On October 1, 2013, it was announced that The Silver Chair would be following The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as the fourth Narnia book to be made into a movie. This announcement was greeted with a variety of emotions: joy on some parts, and uneasiness on others. Today is October 1, 2014.

One year has passed since that announcement, and we have learned several things since then. The first thing that we learned was who would be the producing the film. Mark Gordon, of the Mark Gordon Company, will be working with Vincent Sieber, of the California-based C.S. Lewis Company, and Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis’s step-son, to produce the film.

Later, on December 5, 2013, it was announced that David Magee, who wrote The Life of Pi and Finding Neverland, will be writing the script for The Silver Chair. Several months passed without any more news about the film, until July 2014. The film-makers have felt the need to have a name to address the Lady of the Green Kirtle in the script, and consequently opened a “Silver Chair Movie Contest” to the fans to name the Queen of Underland. The entries closed on July 28, and thus far, no announcements have been made giving the result.

What can we expect to hear of The Silver Chair in the next year? While only speculations can be made, it would be fantastic to begin to see some more movement with casting calls, possible filming locations, concept artists or firms. Perhaps we will even hear if Will Poulter will be returning as Eustace. We shall all just have to wait in see what is in store, and you can be assured that our news team will continue to update you here when we obtain news.
