Kristi Simonson, the owner of The Lion’s Call, shares her series of Narnian paintings.
“My medium is watercolor. I like it because it travels well, cleans up easily, has no odor, and is much more forgiving than many people imagine. You can achieve a wide range of colors, from delicate facial tones to intense background washes.”
I started this series of paintings when Petraverd, one of our members, wrote an article about Reepicheep which I felt needed an illustration. I stayed up till after one a.m. on a Friday working on it. I had been an art major in college, but hadn’t really done much painting in about six years, except on vacation. I have some half-done pictures of Israel and France, and one or two complete paintings from Yosemite National park. But other than that, nothing. Illustrating these articles gave me the nudge I needed to get back to it, though I’ve found that I finish paintings more quickly than Petraverd can predict his next topic, so I’ve started doing other pictures from Narnia as well.
Wow, Kristi. You are amazing. They are so beautiful.
They’re so beutiful! Could you tell me how I could put my own painting out there?
“Out there”? Well, if it’s Narnian artwork, you might submit samples to me and I could evaluate them for possible inclusion on the site. If not, you might consider opening a free account with a site like Deviantart to display your work (and no, I don’t know how they came up with such a freaky name)
Wow, these are so beautiful! My favorite is The Lady of the Green Kirtle. You captured her perfectly!
These are amazing!
I can’t do watercolors to save my life. Kristi, you’re absolutely unbelievable! These are beautiful!
wow
Kristi, these are beautiful! I’m starting a Narnia fan video channel–can I show off your art? I’ll be sure to point people to this page so no one misses out on this great art!
Wow! Do you sell prints? I would love to hang some of these in my library.
