Participation Rules and Legal Disclaimers

RELEASE OF LIABILITY Acknowledgment of this disclaimer and release of liability (the 'Disclaimer') indicates that the person(s) involved (the 'attendee(s)' ) understand that there are risks inherent in attending a convention, and has elected to participate in the convention despite these risks. Therefore, the attendee(s), their relatives, assigns, successors, heirs, agents, contractors and representatives agree now and forever to release from liability arising from any condition or act of commission or omission, and save harmless, Honor Conventions, Incorporated ('The Management') and Biola University, their employees, students, volunteers, assigns, successors, heirs, agents, contractors and representatives. CONDUCT AND TERMS OF ADMISSION Attendees of LionCon ('the convention') are expected to conduct themselves in a decent and orderly manner, giving due respect to other persons at all times. They are expected to abide by all rules set down by The Management and Biola university. Any attendee who cannot conduct themselves in this manner will be asked to leave, or if necessary, be forcefully removed. Any attendee asked or made to leave will not be entitled to a refund of their admission. Furthermore, The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to any party for any reason whatsoever. CHILDREN The Management of LionCon strongly encourages the participation of children and young adults at the convention. However, all persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or another responsible adult bearing an en loco parentis form (this form is available on the registration page of the LionCon website). Anyone under the age of 18 without a responsible adult will not be admitted to LionCon. CONVENTION BADGES Please wear your convention badge at all times. Anyone without a badge may be asked to leave. Convention staff and volunteers will have special badges and/or clothing so you can identify them in case you have a question or concern. DRESS CODE All attendees shall dress in a manner appropriate for a family setting in a private Christian university. This includes outfits for the costume party. The convention will be taking place in a public venue, and the attendees and observers will include children. (Also see 'Weapons policy' for more details.) SMOKING, TOBACCO PRODUCTS, ALCOHOL AND ILLEGAL DRUGS No smoking or use of tobacco products is allowed on any part of the grounds of Biola University. This is strictly enforced. No use of alcohol or any illegal drugs is permitted on the university grounds. Anyone found using alcohol or illegal drugs will be asked to leave immediately. If necessary, the appropriate legal authorities will be notified. ANIMALS No animals are permitted anywhere on the campus grounds except service animals. An exception will be made for genuine Narnain Talking Animals :-) REFUNDS All registration and admission fees are nonrefundable. However, admission charges will not be reassessed for any attendee who has to leave and come back, provided that it can be demonstrated that they have already paid their registration or admission. PERSONAL PROPERTY It is the responsibility of the attendees to ensure that all personal property is properly looked after. The Management and Biola University will not be responsible for personal property that is missing, lost, stolen or damaged. WEAPONS POLICY It is the policy of Biola University to not allow weapons on their campus. This includes edge weapons such as knives, daggers or swords. For the costume ball, fake swords may be carried provided that 1.) They are made of plastic, or a 'hilt in a scabbard' that cannot be drawn. 2.) Any plastic sword must not have any kind of obvious 'edge', and should be obviously not capable of dealing an effective blow of any sort. Vendors please note that they may not bring edge weapons to sell, or display samples of edge weapons for sale on the campus. Orders may be taken for edge weapons, to be delivered to the purchasers at another place and time. PARKING POLICY Attendees, including vendors, shall follow Biola University's parking policy. Areas around the business school will be off limits, as classes will be in session. If possible, we will let attendees know in advance where they can and cannot park. Provisions will be made for loading-in and loading-out of vendor booths, etc. EVENT SCHEDULE Although every attempt is being made to ensure events will happen as scheduled, there is no guarantee that any given event will happen, or that it will happen at the time scheduled. Although every attempt will be made to notify attendees of a schedule change, these changes can occur without notice. Speakers in particular are subject to change, as their ability to participate is subject to their own individual circumstances. It is the attendee's responsibility to pay attention to schedule changes, which will be announced or posted as soon as they are known about. FULL EVENTS All attendance at events is first come, first served. If an event becomes filled to capacity, the doors will be closed and no additional attendance will be allowed. CELL PHONES Please turn off the ringers on your cell phones during presentations. If you must make or take a call, please leave the venue. PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING Photography, or audio and/or video recording may not be allowed during some events or presentations. This includes the use of cell phone recording cameras or audio recorders. Prohibitions on photography and recording will be clearly identified at the appropriate events or presentations. Any attendees who violate a photography or recording restriction will be asked to leave and may have their recording device confiscated. Please use courtesy when taking pictures in area where photography is allowed. Keep flash photography to a minimum during presentations. COPYRIGHTS Please note that copyrighted images, products, or literary works may be displayed or presented at LionCon. These not be reproduced in any form without the written permission of those who own said copyrights. MODEL RELEASE By acknowledging this disclaimer, the attendee(s) give permission for their image or likeness to be used in any kind of print or electronic media that Honor Conventions, Inc. may choose to use, now or in the future. This may include children that are incidentally part of the event. This release further extends to any coverage of the convention by the news media, or documentary producers. CLUB MEMBERSHIP Registration includes one-year non-voting club membership. SEVERABILITY If it is determined that any provision of this disclaimer is illegal, unenforceable, or fails a legal challenge, all other provisions of this disclaimer will stay in force.
