I do like fanfictions of missing scenes. There are things that can't be included in canon for length or because they don't further the plot as much and this is where fanfiction succeeds because it can appeal to readers who want more. Like, writing about missing scenes between Aravis and Cor as Ariel has done.

Also fanfiction can have crossovers with other series and genres, which could never be done in canon, so that's interesting.

If you write any really, really good Narnia fanfiction, though, you might want to consider copyrighting it in a country where Narnia is in the public domain, such as Canada.

Differentiating a country foreign to Narnia (and therefore England) via cuisine is only natural, and he does that elsewhere too by naming exotic items (such as dates), stating that Calormenes use oil rather than butter (true of the nations that have lots of olives and not as much cattle, like Israel), and by describing the meal Shasta had in Tashbaan (containing things he doesn’t include in descriptions of Narnian feasts, like lentils). The smell of onion and garlic is simply another layer.

Then the dark men came round them in a thick crowd, smelling of garlic and onions, their white eyes flashing dreadfully in their brown faces.
How is that? I know there's been controversial debate about how the way the Calormenes are portrayed as racist. But how could they smell of garlic and onions?

One way could be is that each story could be told in first person. Though it could be tough since there are so many different point of views. I guess you could write your own version of The Silver Chair and tell it from Jill's perspective in first person.

Another way is to broaden out each story that it's not already in the book. There are a lot of gaps to fill in. But of course, you can't really change what CS Lewis wrote. You could broaden out the Dawn Treader setting sail from Cair Paravel. You can even broaden out Prince Rilian in Underland with the Lady of the Green Kirtle.

And yes, I know that fanfics like to pair two characters or add a romance. Personally, I much rather ship an cc and oc (like what I did with Emeth and Marietta in my LB fanfic or even Gale and Carlotta in my Lone Islands fanfic) or two oc's than ship two cc's (Digory and Polly or Eustace and Jill or Tirian and Jill). And of course, in a fanfic, you could broaden out Caspian and Ramandu's daughter's relationship or even Frank and Helen's relationship.

So what are some advantages or disadvantages of writing a Narnia fanfic? If you were to write a Narnia fanfic, what things would you change? Would you add a romance between two characters or broaden out the ones that are canon (Frank and Helen, Cor and Aravis, Caspian and Ramandu's Daughter)? Would you even have it told in first person? Please, share some ideas.

Who is the Satan figure? Jadis or Tash? Well, I would say it's complicated. Tash is not in equal to Aslan, just as Satan is not in equal to Jesus.

I like the possibility that Stars can come in different shapes sometimes. After all, Angels do.

They do, that's true! It can be debated that who is the most likely Satan figure, Jadis or Tash. Though I would say that Tash could be a picture of how Satan will one day reveal his true nature. You know that passage in Revelation, "Woe to the Earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you! He is filled with great anger, knowing he doesn't have much time!"

There are some who often view Shift as the Antichrist, but I think Rishda could also be the Antichrist in some aspect. Rishda is a Calormene, and not a Narnian, and he persecutes Narnians, especially the followers of Aslan. So it would have been kind of awkward if Shift, a talking ape from Narnia, was the only one persecuting Narnians. And how else would Shift manipulate Narnians when says that Aslan and Tash are one and the same without the Calormenes involved?

For LB, you could have Shift sing the main melody and Rishda and Ginger harmonize. Then Rishda and Ginger takes over the main melody and Shift harmonize. Then Rishda and Ginger could try to nudge him back to the same melody, given that they're using him like a puppet.

And maybe there are some families who are set in their ways when it comes to their child in marriage.. like they want to be traditional (maybe in the upper class society, that is).

That is a good question. I think coming of age might be different in different regions.

Yet it would also depend on the definition of "coming of age". The Walden movie adaption of Prince Caspian made it a coming of age story, where Caspian learns about what it means to be king.

Narnia doesn't necessarily practice arrange marriages (at least, I don't think) but there may be times when when a parent chooses a boyfriend or girlfriend for their child.
I don't think that in Narnia, they really arranged marriages. Nobles, maybe, but surfs, probably not.

Last night, I was thinking and scanning though the books and I don't think coming to age was a thing. They didn't have cars, so they didn't need to be a certain age for a licence, they didn't have elections, so they didn't need to be a certain age to vote, etc...
