I enjoyed it.

Fauntleroy - his family name.
Little Lord - well, his family are Lords.

Now, the thing is, he grew up his very earliest years not knowing that. This means when he gets to the castle, he gets a cultural shock like Heidi in Frankfurt. If you know Heidi by Johanna Spyri. The theme is how he remains perfectly loyal to the poor family he grew up with.

The point *possibly* being that nobility is not just what family one is born to and whether one lives in castle or hut.

There seem to my memory to be story lines on his running away from the castle to get back to the family and his getting kidnapped by ruffians (or nearly so) hoping to get a nice ransom for a little lord.

Ajnos, does my memory seem correct?

I remember sitting in the shade of the Cardiff Castle (it was an unusually hot day), leaning against the old Roman wall and reading it while I was waiting for the crowds to gather to see the torch :P

As for the story, it was cute, but I couldn't help thinking throughout that Fauntleroy was an extreme Gary Stu (the male version of a Mary Sue). No one is *that* perfect and it kinda annoyed me, especially since he had a good character and was good-looking, with a kinda veiled implication that the two go together. Not one of Frances Hodgson Burnett's best (although, as I said; a cute story).

I never read Anne of Green Gables, but somehow it made me think of LLF.
