Re: The Last Battle in film
*shrugs* I don’t see why there can’t be more, but it’s not a groundbreaking notion (Aravis and Emeth already took care of that). But there’s more to entering Aslan’s country than “not liking the society you live in or under somebody’s rule”: it’s whether one loves Aslan. (Emeth is something of a mon...

Re: How To Turn A Book Into A Movie
@knight: No, not yet! I do have a little children’s abridged version of Ben-Hur, but I’m pretty sure I haven’t even read all of that. @jasmine: What makes a “good” movie — and even more, a “good” adaptation — is going to vary across a broad spectrum. Unless a movie is objectively bad by just about e...

Re: How To Turn A Book Into A Movie
I need to actually read Ben-Hur one of these days…. Clearly, Simonides was a more admirable figure in the original! Re: What readest thou?
It’s been almost a month since I read the first of the Wheel of Time series. Expect to pick up the next one soon. (I don’t know all that’s in this series, but it sounds like there are some issues later?) I read The Librarian Spy by Madeline Martin last week. And I was pleasantly surprised at how cle...

Re: What readest thou?
Took a break from WWII history after the previously mentioned book, and blitzed through a Nero Wolfe mystery last weekend before jumping into another WWII history book. I’d had some prelude to this one because I’d watched the 1953 film “The Man Who Never Was”, but this book goes into so much more de...

Re: What readest thou?
I stopped procrastinating on the aforementioned book. I’m now… about 4/5 through it. Fascinating WWII stuff, but can’t recommend due to some language and brief references.
