I agree, I loved what they did with it. The acting and editing choices are intentional to stay with the feel of the books, which are strange, witty, and sarcastic.

But of course everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. ^-^

@Pev: episodes? I was talking about the 1960 Hitchcock film.

@Pev: I've watched it twice now. Very good, brilliantly written and directed. Though definitely for a more mature viewer.

@Pev: They are very strange but done well. If you haven't read the books, they would probably feel weirder than to those who have. I only wish all the books were adapted instead of just four.

@Pev: so far, so good. There are only eight episodes and I'm nearly finished with the sixth. They have more of a humorous overtone than I remember the books having but it adds a bit of levity to the otherwise dark cirumstances. I highly recommend the books though.
