I ate like a dozen pieces in five minutes once, so it's not impossible...maybe Edmund had a high sugar tolerance?

Remember that Edmund would have been living with a sugar ration for a while. High sugar tolerance or no, a kid living with that would jump at the chance to have all this sugar.
