Graphics and Art Posting Guidelines

Post by White Rose » Mon Aug 26, 2013 4:31 pm

Hey!
We all love the beautiful graphics the members of our forum make.
Here are some rules and guidelines for posting graphics and art, so things keep running smoothly. :)

- Remember, anything posted must fall within the standards set in the forum’s rules.

- Graphics around avatar (100x100) and signature (500x160) sizes are to be posted directly (using IMG tags) only. Please, do not post the links!

- You may directly post graphics that are bigger than the above sizes, as long as they do not resize the page in length, or take too much space in height.

- Large graphics and artwork, especially those that resize the page, are to be posted as links only. However, the links for these graphics are to be approved by White Rose or Lucy Took before being posted! Just PM the link to one of us.
Also, please, put a note under the link, or at the end of your post, stating by whom the link was approved. (approval is a safety precaution, and the note helps to avoid confusion for us Moderators). This applies to ALL members no matter their rank. J

- When giving a link, make sure it is a direct link (usually labeled “Direct Link for Layouts” in the list of links and codes for sharing after uploading) to the graphic and not to your hosting site account. (Especially if there are pictures of you or other members on it)

- When posting pictures or anything that would have a member in it, be sure nothing specific about them can be seen. (blur or cover their face, or be sure they are at an angle where you can’t see their face) Generally we prefer, unless it is a picture of a costume or some such thing, that you do not have members in a posted picture.

- Unless otherwise stated, all graphics posted are up for public use, no need to ask. If a graphic is made for a specific person or reason, or any other reason you do not want the graphic for public use, please make sure you state in your post that permission for use is needed- or a statement telling not to use. Permission requests should be sent via PM to the person who made the graphic.

- You may request graphics to be made for you, but any long discussions over them should be done through PM’s.

- You can save graphics directly to your computer by right clicking on the graphic, and selecting “save picture as” (on Windows). You may, then, upload the graphic to a hosting site for use.

- If, for some reason, a member needs the link for a graphic, please PM the link to White Rose or Lucy Took for approval, first. We'll check it out, give you the ok, and then you can PM it to the person in need.

- Remember that hot-linking is against internet etiquette. No posting graphics unless they're from a graphics hosting site.

- The graphics threads are for the purpose of posting graphics made by our members. Please do not post graphics you found on other sites. If you do post a graphic from another person, make sure you credit them.

- Try to keep the number of graphics per post to a reasonable amount. About 10-15 maximum height signatures is a good idea of the most in length a post should be. You can always make another post for the rest of your creations. Posting avatars side by side to maximum length is another tip for fitting the most graphics possible.

- Try to avoid double posting, if possible. If you have more graphics to post, and no body has posted since you, please try to edit your new graphics into your last post if there is room. If it has been several days and/or there is no room in your last post for new graphics, then a double post is allowed.

- When referring back to a specific graphic in a comment, please try to specify via words as opposed to reposting the graphic. This cuts down on clutter in the posts and makes the Moderators’ job easier.

- Please only use approved graphics/photo hosting sites when posting a link to a graphic and when getting the code to direct post a graphic. We recommend imgur and Photobucket. If you are not sure about a site, ask White Rose or Lucy Took and we will check it out and let you know.

- Please remember that deviantArt is NOT a TLC approved site, due to some of the not family friendly stuff posted on there, and how easy it is wander from a link to the site. If you would like to post something from there, save it to your computer, then upload it to an approved graphics/photo hosting site to post here. However, if you do this, you still need to credit the artist…just don’t link to them.

- Keep in mind that a photo/graphic as a link is still a graphics link and needs to be approved first!

Thanks!
And have fun creating! :)
