A Girl Leaned Over a Book
A sort of parody of "A Bird Came Down the Walk" by Emily Dickinson. (And, yes, you can blame my lit teacher for this one, too. )
A girl leaned over a book---
She did not know I saw---
She turned a page rapidly,
Her eyes widening with awe.
And then she leaned toward the light,
Needing just a little more---
She began to bite her lip,
Captured to her core.
Her eyes across the words flew,
Her wonder rising fast---
She looked, I thought, to be immersed
In images of the past.
I slowly sank to the ground.
Though I was very quiet, I was sure
She couldn’t hear a sound,
So much was she allured.
No noise could ever disturb her there,
Not a danger or a care,
For she was far away on an adventure
That she could only dream of here.

Oh me, oh my! THAT IS WONDERFUL. I've never read the one you said it was sort of a parody of, though.
I wish I could make stuff rhyme like that!

Re: A Girl Leaned Over a Book
Sounds like me when I'm reading a book for the first time.
If somebody has an idea for a Narnia comic that they weren't planning on making themselves, I <------ This offer still
would be so grateful if they would send it to me in a PM. I am running appallingly low on ideas...! <-- stands.
