*Gratefully accepts a cup of hot chocolate from Tenny* What are we gathering for? I may be the most ignorant of the going ons... Oh, thanks for the cocoa.

Re: The Coffee Shop
While we're talking refreshments, may I donate some savory stuffed rolls brushed with herb-butter to the mix? I'm thinking mozzarella/spinach/dried tomato, although I'm open to alternative suggestions. And puffy little white-bread rolls made with breadmaker machine dough. And there's kind of a fruity dark pink loose-leaf herbal tea blend I've got here that'll light up your tastebuds, if somebody wants variety on their second cup...
So, book club... Do we have any idea what's on for this year?

Re: The Coffee Shop
Chess, we're just congregating here as we get ready for our first book together!
Lily, did you mean what books are going to be coming up? Right now we have some ideas, but haven't decided on anything for sure. I've heard some rumors about some other CS Lewis works, some Tolkien, as well as several fantasy books.
If you have any recommendations at all, I would love to hear them! And the same goes for everyone else!

OOOHHHH. This might be fun. What gets up in here? I understand.... We go through books and gather here periodically to talk about the book, am I right? And..... The first will be The Hobbit?

Re: The Coffee Shop
May I suggest Out of the Silent Planet for the future? (or the Space Trilogy in general)
Team Cap. Sig made by Ariel.

*hands rolls around to the willing*
Hrm...
Suggestions, eh?
-The Singer Trilogy by Calvin Miller is cool and under-appreciated, although maybe a little tough to get your hands on. Kinda semi-poetic allegory.
-At the Back of the North Wind by George MacDonald
-Wingfeather?
Or, if nonChristian books are also on the table -
-Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer - well written, generally clean, YA slice-of-life fiction with a female protagonist. (I think I'm allowed to post links with disclaimer at this rank without asking first, as long as they're my own material? Have my review on Squeaky Clean- http://www.squeakycleanreviews.com/revi ... iew_id=764)
-Icefall by Matthew J. Kirby - historical fiction Viking whodunit (http://www.squeakycleanreviews.com/revi ... ew_id=3089)
-Jackaroo by Cynthia Voigt - tentative rec, would need to go back to be sure of the content rating, but I remember it was well-written, if somewhat grim at times, and involved Robin-Hood-like folklore.

Re: The Coffee Shop
Now this is starting on March 1, right? And we'll be going through 5 chapters a week.
If somebody has an idea for a Narnia comic that they weren't planning on making themselves, I <------ This offer still
would be so grateful if they would send it to me in a PM. I am running appallingly low on ideas...! <-- stands.
