It also helps people start treating you like an adult, rather than a teenager.

Congratulations to everyone learning to drive!
Yes HEHE
Okay my first real time driving anywhere was actually an hour drive on the freeway. XDXD
And being treated as an adult is very very helpful too.

I honestly have absolutely no interest in driving and so I am really taking to Germany's public transport. It is fast and efficient and takes you almost everywhere you want.. I wish I had this back home.

YESSSSSS

My mum had great reports of the Germy underground and bus lines when she visited back in her high school as an exchange student. From what I know they are still one of the best.

Hi everyone. Nice to see this chat thread getting busy again.

So I didn't officially leave, but I know I haven't posted on here in forever, so I guess I could say
I'm back.

The last few months of last year were really hectic for me because I was working to finally finish my PhD thesis that I've been working on for the last 4 years. And I did it. On 28 November I handed in my 100 000 words/300 page thesis. I probably won't get any feedback from the examiners until mid-Feb.

So I was planning to to spend more time on TLC over the Dec/Jan (=Summer) Holidays. But nope. Our home telephone line which also provides our ADSL internet died on 2 December and we didn't get it fixed until Tuesday (16 Jan). 45 Days of no internet. It was so weird and I felt like I was living in the 00's again when we had no ADSL internet at home.

I did manage to get more tidying and pleasure reading done than I would have otherwise. But it was so frustrating not being able to randomly google stuff or chat to my overseas friends :p

Anyway, so that's my life update. Hope you're all well.

If somebody has an idea for a Narnia comic that they weren't planning on making themselves, I <------ This offer still
would be so grateful if they would send it to me in a PM. I am running appallingly low on ideas...! <-- stands. :)

I reread Louisa May Alcott's Little Women etc. series. I didn't exactly grow up with them (first read them in highschool and then once more in undergrad, so this was my third time). I always find them homey and comforting (except for those two places in Good Wives where I always cry).

I also got the new Beren and Luthien publication for Christmas which was a nice dose of old/new Tolkien.

To add in my 2 cents on the earlier driving license discussion: In SA you can only apply for your Learner's License (Permit) at 17 and Diver's License at 18. But I didn't get mine till I was 20/21. And didn't start actually driving regularly till I was 27. I still don't enjoy it much but it's less terrifying than it used to be (although I keep away from freeways and take a weird back-route to my university campus). I really miss Britain's public transport system.

I should probably read Little Women at some point.... And definitely Beren and Luthien! But I'm trying to knock down the number of unread books on my shelf first.
