Then starting Christmas Day we will open a separate giving thread for you to post your gifts -- Watch for more details coming about secret-santa and elf thread how to's! Also you should be getting the name of who you will secretly be giving to as a secret santa by the end of the week from either Lucy Took or me. The moderator who sends you your assignment will also be the one to send your links to for approval. (Remember there is a rules thread if you need clarification on how all this will work, by the way.)

Secret Santa this year starts December 25th and ends on January 6th. I know that's technically 13 days but it seemed to round everything out ending it on Epiphany.

To be involved with the Secret Santa exchange you have to....

-Sign up before December 13th. Sometime during the following week you will be assigned the name of a fellow TLC member who you will be giving e-presents to.

-During the 12 days of Christmas you will post e-presents using the Father Christmas account which you will receive the password for along with the name of your recipient.

-Post at least 5 present posts during the 12 days. 5 is a guideline, you can post more or less depending on your time and what you can find.

But Tooky, what is an e-present? you ask.

Of course not all of you know, it's been awhile since we've done this.

An e-present is something that shows that you've put some thought into finding out the interests of the person that you've been assigned to. You can share pretty much anything that abides with the TLC rules and has no monetary value in your present posts. Examples of e-presents would be-

Links to YouTube and Godvine videos that fit the interests of your person

Avatars and signatures

Pins and Pictures

Flash Games

Wallpapers

Fanfiction links

Links to Free for Commercial Use Graphic Stocks (OK, that's a little specific to a few members :P )

And pretty much anything else that can be shared in link form that doesn't violate community rules.

But Tooky, How do I upload pictures without them having my name attached?

You use Imgur.com. If it's smallish and can be posted directly to the forum, awesome. If not, follow graphic link posting rules.


So Her Royal Tookness, what are these link rules for Secret Santa?

Very good question, Hypothetical Question Asking Person. The links rules are slightly different this year than they have been in the past. Mostly because I got sick and tired of having to watch Every. Single. Youtube. Video. So link guidelines are as follows-

-When you are given the name of a person to give to the PM will come from either myself or from Benisse. The person who you got your PM from is your Primary Link Approver(PMA). If you are a Knight or higher you have to copy paste every post with links (Or a link to the post with links :p) into a PM to your PMA. Unlike in other years you don't have to wait for us to approve your post, we just want to know which posts belong to who in case of issues. Just put the name of your PMA at the bottom of your posts ie "Tooky says I can post this" or " Benisse gives her blessing" If you aren't a Knight yet then you PM your PMA with your links and can not post them until they are approved.

-All links that go to a single graphic and nothing else have to be cleared by your PMA regardless of status. This is mostly to check for hotlinking and to make sure you linked it right.

-If you need a post approved as a non-Knight or if you need a graphic link approved and you see that a mod that isn't your PMA happens to be online, go ahead and ask them for approval and put their name at the bottom of your post.

What about elfing, Tooky?

Elfing starts on Christmas as well. Same rules apply, but you can give to anyone you want, not just the person you were assigned to. Elfing is a voluntary thing, give nothing, give a little, give a lot. Totally up to you. The Elf account will be managed and I'll add the password to the account to the elfing thread when it goes up.

What if I just want to share Christmas music with everyone?

There'll be a thread for that too after Thanksgiving.
