Re: Quail as a substitute for snipe: I don't know where to find it (short of going hunting) but there must be some place in my area, because I've seen it showing up in a few restaurants.

Oh! I can't remember if we took pictures or not - I'll have to look - but I did finally get to have a shot at a Coriakin Tea this year. ^_^ Cold lamb and peas (found some lamb with parsley at the supermarket although it was a bit pricey), toast and marmalade, an omelette piping hot (assumed this was the plain egg, scrambled and then fried up in a sheet with you would for the outer part of an omelette?), strawberry ice (well, I actually settled for ice-cream with stewed strawberries stirred in), and tea. Skipped on the squash, as I'm not sure we can get the authentic article hereabouts. Brought out the good dishes, and had a tasseled dark blue shawl and a little wooden model sailship and candles for table decor. ^_^

Ooh... sounds amazing, Lil!
I've been informed that "Nerdy Nummies" has recently uploaded a Narnian Turkish Delight video. Haven't seen it yet, but throwing it out there for any interested.

Re: Narnian food!
About quail: Quail are popular as game birds (i.e. people like to hunt for them), but some folks like to raise them. Raising quail is apparently rising in popularity in the States (some people like to sell theirs to restaurants as that can be a profitable thing to do). I would like to raise some quail someday. How easy/difficult it would be to find somebody selling quail meat probably varies a good deal depending on where one lives, I'd expect, and I personally wouldn't know where to look!
Anyway, that's about all I know about it. Good luck to anyone who wants to try to find some!

So, if I can't find any stocked in the grocery, I should search for local quail farms? I'll keep that in mind...

Re: Narnian food!
That's my best guess. I just googled "how to find local quail" and found a couple of resources that looked promising.
