Here we have ice puddles, like the top of that windy plain outside Harfang.

Lakelike pond at Lognes. All ice covered when I arrived last night, or so it seemed. This morning, there was ice on most of it, but a piece of opening was enjoyed by the ducks, who obviously have more fat (in proportion!) than most fatties, or they wouldn't do it.

I'm watching a good six inches of snow/sleet coming down outside my window here in the rolling hills between the Appalachians and the Atlantic. I went skiing for the first time last weekend (We stayed in a cute little cabin up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and it was GORGEOUS) and still have bruises on my shins from all the times I fell down. :p

It's been ridiculously spring-like here. It's been above zero for a few days...everything is melting...normally we don't get this until April.

As I mention lake at Lognes at night and 9 in morning, when I passed it today it was icefree, but that was more like 10 am.

Icefree - not at edges, though.

Is that normal for France, hansgeorg? For some reason I thought there'd be more snow and ice than what you describe, but it's not like I've really paid attention to weather conditions there.

Going to venture out today after staying home for two days cause of the snow. Of course we've been out in the snow! Just haven't tried to drive anywhere yet.

My cousins near Washington D.C. got 28 inches of snow-- which sounds like fun, considering they also have the World's Steepest Driveway. You can see all the Eastern U.S. news freaking out and calling it Snowmaggedon. My town is probably more wimpy than most; we don't get snow very often and freak out and empty the shelves of milk and bread when we only get a couple inches. I imagine the states farther north are dealing with MUCH more snow and laughing at us, with our measly four inches or so.
