Re: A Random Poem...
Lovely work, oh Hobbity one! ^_^ And that gives me an idea for my April pursuits as well, I bet my current screen background would make a nice poem... *ahem*
The Lightning one is beautiful and rather mysterious - touching something bigger - feels good. And the opener with the dragon and the unicorn battling seems like something it would be fun to see more illustrations for.

This is a super long time after any of these were posted, but all those poems were really good!

Re: A Random Poem...
@Lily: Thank you! One of the most encouraging things to hear is that I gave somebody an idea. And I never really thought of illustrating the unicorn vs dragon battle one, but I might since you suggested it.
@Mysty: Thanks!!

Re: A Random Poem...
It's really cool how you can just look at a picture and write a good 6-9 stanza poem about it.

Re: A Random Poem...
Thanks so much, Silver! It's really fun. I'm sure you'd like it if you tried.
Okay, so it's sort of a tradition of mine (not a longstanding tradition, exactly, but a tradition nonetheless) of doing a poem or two during NaNoWriMo. These are two such poems which I wrote this evening to meet my word count goal.
I'm probably going to regret posting them tomorrow (I'm half-asleep right now and am not at the top of my proofreading game so I can't check them for errors), but I thought I'd post them anyway.
THE ARTIST
I wonder to me what the other ones think,
The ones with no thoughts to let run.
I pity them, too, for I am an artist:
Perhaps I’m the only one.
To lose myself in a world of baloney,
A world that doesn’t exist.
To me, though, it’s just as real as the rest,
And I do not try to resist.
The normal dissolves in a blast of my fancy,
The walls dissolve in the air,
And all in a moment appears before me
A world that’s wild and fair.
The sunshine replaces electrical lights,
The grass replaces the floor,
And a golden path leads through a wood
That I often visit before.
The midnight shadows reflect my soul,
The sunlight does the same,
And away in the distance the fireflies blink,
Playing some happy game.
The twisted trunks of the mossy trees
Arched over the tumbled road,
And on the sloping, bumpy banks
The furry weed-grass growed.
The moss-green roots of the goblin trees
Slithered in the dark.
The twisted mists in the distance dissolved
And glowed against the bark.
I know in the wood live the pixies and elves,
And hobbits and dwarves and the like.
They’re mine for the meeting, and talking, befriending,
If I’m feeling up to the hike.
I know at the end of the afternoon wood
There lies a silver shore.
I happily wave my new-found tail:
Even I am a human no more.
A WALK
We’re taking a long walk, you and I,
If you’re up for it,
If you’re up for the walk.
And while we do we can have a long talk,
The whole thing in Elvish,
If you’re up for the talk.
And we’ll see the mountains with their heads in the sky,
When we take the walk, you and I.
We’re taking a long walk, you and me,
In the evening,
In the evening light.
And while we’re at it we may visit a dragon
For the fun of it,
In the dawn of night.
And the twinnish moons in the sky we’ll see,
When we take the walk, you and me.
We’re taking a walk, just us together,
We'll follow each other
To find the way.
I’ll pack a lunch and you pack a staff,
And we’ll leave right now,
At the end of the day.
And we’ll see the world in all kinds of weather,
When we take the walk together.

"The moss-green roots of the goblin trees
Slithered in the dark." -Oh, GOOD line.
"I know at the end of the afternoon wood
There lies a silver shore." - touch 'o wonder there.
