Re: A Random Poem...
I don't like sonnets, but I wrote one for a poetry contest. But then I found out that I couldn't enter in the contest due to certain complications, so I figured I'd at least put it on here.
O’er open hills of verdant touch’d with gold
And through wide woods o’erarched with leafy green
Before my eyes there, slow but strong, unfold
The variations I each year have seen.
The harvest comes and goes quite overnight,
The trees begin more patiently to shift;
Then under skies of crystal blue and white
The golden-red and browning-green leaves drift.
The nomad birds, appalled by summer’s fall,
Take wing and leave the autumn world behind.
But I remain, for I adore it all,
And wander, yet more artistry to find.
Yet under all the autumn glory lies
The grass still reminiscing summer skies.
O’er open hills of verdant touch’d with gold
And through wide woods o’erarched with leafy green
Before my eyes there, slow but strong, unfold
The variations I each year have seen.
The harvest comes and goes quite overnight,
The trees begin more patiently to shift;

Re: A Random Poem...
Aww, I'm glad you guys like it! ^-^
Here are a couple more that I did earlier this month.
Alassiel, on the edge of the bay,
Stood on the ruined pier of stone.
She watched as the last ship sailed away
And left her there alone.
The lonely wind her dark hair caught,
Her dark eyes shone in the lonely sun.
She watched them leave, and then she thought,
“Now I am the only one.”
Dragon wings in the misty air,
The passing sails beneath the arch,
Leaving behind a world once fair,
One seventeenth of March.
Naïvely danced the sparkling waves,
The water white and glassy green
Above the many silent graves
Too deep-sunk to be seen.
The battle fought there in the past,
The herald of the age’s end,
It drove away the rest at last,
A lonely way to wend.
But when they left the ghosts to stray
In cities they would see no more,
They left one of their own to stay
Upon the waning shore.
From midday to the dusky shades,
She watched the sails grow smaller yet:
They left behind in fading glades
The one they would forget.
The land is silent, silent now,
Since they all left and went away.
They sailed off with a gleaming prow
Upon a cool March day.
But one had stayed and watched them go,
And when they passed beyond her sight,
She turned and went with soft steps slow
And vanished in the night.
Now lingering in the dwindling trees
She stays and watches from the gloom,
And thinks on all the things she sees,
And contemplates her doom.
No one else would stop and look,
But hurried on their way.
So I alone explored the nook;
Just I was asked to stay.
The thing it was that caught my eye,
A door within a tree,
So near the ground I stooped to spy,
And eyes looked back at me.
Out from the window o’er the door
Two yellow eyes there peeped.
Then cried a voice, “Please wait once more!”,
And from the door he creeped.
His furry hair was mossy-green,
All grey his garment’s cloth.
But most amazing to be seen
Were two wings like a moth.
His height was less than half my shin.
But, civil as a squire,
He bowed quite low and said, “Come in,
And sit down by the fire!”
I saw at once the door was not
For one as large as me.
He bowed again, said, “I forgot,
But won’t you stay for tea?”
He ran and got the crockery,
And water soon was drawn.
Then once I’d seen his rockery,
We had tea on the lawn.

Sort of, but not exactly. It sounded rather like it when I was done, but it wasn't my original idea.
