Thanks, guys. 🙂
Ariel, can you remember the book's name? I would love to have a look at those illustrations if I could dig it up at some point...
@Lily: I couldn't remember the full title, but thankfully Google was able to help me out! I don't know if there are more than one edition of this book or not, but this is the cover of the one I have somewhere: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1450009.The_Lion_and_the_Ostrich_Chicks_and_Other_African_Tales (Good Reads is not in any way affiliated with TLC; click at your own risk)
And look, guys, I drew today for the first time in a long while! I got inspired by the adult colouring books I've had for a year and some and decided I wanted to dabble. I have a better image idea worked out for a different subject, but I wanted to start off my fancy sketchbook strong, so I went with one of my favourite Bible verses instead, Revelation 1:18.
Ooh, niiiiiice! I like it, Ariel! 🙂
Nice!
Thanks, guys. ^.^
Thanks! (I just realized that the size of the picture doesn't really bring it out, but I do have "Revelation 1:18" repeated on the hem of His sleeve.)
I'll post more once I actually, you know, draw them. 😛
Wow. I mean, I can't really tell it's under-lit except by his arms and pectorals, but the drawing is still impressive. 😀
Yeah, that's what I meant about part-front-lit. Made it easier breaking me in with under-lighting, because I wasn't ready yet to jump right in with 100% under-lit. 😆 I was going to add more shadows, and darker, but I had limited time and had to make some sacrifices if I wanted to finish the picture while the idea was fresh. But in hindsight, it actually works. The part that's still angel is front-lit and has fewer shadows (the face and his left wing in particular), while the part that is changing into demon (namely the arms and the right wing) is under-lit, implying the change into evil.
(The picture, incidentally, is supposed to be of Lucifer being transformed into Satan, sort-of-but-not-really inspired by a scene from Sight&Sound Theater's stage play of the story of creation. I forgot to mention that earlier. 😛 )
Oh, that explains the wing! I was wondering why the one wing was less than angelic. 😛
😆
I think this is where I post this...
So I tried painting for like, the first time in forever. I think it turned out pretty well for the fact that I only used two colors of paint...
About the thing that I painted: I was looking through old "fan art" (if I can call it that) from my old novels that I wrote when I was like, thirteen, and I came across a sketch of this. It's called an Amberequinette (have no idea where I came up with that name). It's an island animal which is like a horse/fish... It can go on land or water and is either green or yellow or goldish.
I used a picture of a horse to sort of figure out where the muscles and shadows and stuff should go. The only two colors of paint I used were black and yellow, which, when crossed, ended up turning quite green. 😀 It only took about fifteen minutes, and I didn't do a background because I was too lazy...
But I was mainly inspired by Hobbit, who is like the most creative person ever. So yeah. 🙄
I'm sorry the painting is so blurry. I really don't like my camera.
Very nice!
