A Little Girl’s Narnia Party

Looking for a Narnia-themed party with a different color scheme? Look here for inspiration!

We’ve all been on Pinterest and seen the wonderful Narnia parties parents have put together for their children. I’m always tickled when I find they have made use of the Narnian Heraldic Lion image I created over a decade ago.

But, by and large, these parties feature decorations in crimson and gold, the colors made popular by the Walden Media films for the heraldry of Narnia.

When it came time to host an adoption party for my own little girl, I wanted something softer. The party planner had already suggested a coronation theme and I couldn’t get Narnia out of my head. (It seldom is. I’ve been running this web site for twenty years.) Still, I couldn’t bring myself to set my four-year-old girl’s party in such vibrant tones, and a Pinterest search for a “Girl’s Narnia Party” came up empty.

“Let’s go with the blush pink,” I finally said. “We’ll try for ‘Narnia Light.'”

Then, having seen her work wonders before, I let her run with it.

When I approached the party I was greeted by this charming lion and banner. The banner was made from the re-purposed end of a table runner, with a large wooden letter N painted gold. the lion held a sign welcoming us to the party.

The doorway sported a fur coat to indicate the passage into Narnia.

The planner had framed quotes from the books and movies in small jeweled picture frames to suit the occasion. She had spray-painted golden lions and re-covered some books in scrapbook paper to say “The Chronicles of [My Daughter’s Name].”

She had ordered authentic rose-flavored Turkish Delight from Amazon. Because of the powdered sugar on the surface, it melded perfectly with the blush color scheme.

She selected a set of blush and gold-colored plastic plates that were so beautiful I didn’t realize they were plastic until I picked one up. A nice option at a kid’s party, and easy to clean up, too!

For the children she had rock candy party favors; for the grownups she had made lion charm necklaces with tiny bottles containing mustard seeds.

The cake was comprised of tiers of pink-frosted cupcakes with gold flakes on top and gold cupcake covers around them. The topper cake was covered in coconut shavings. A toy lion and miniature pine tree were placed on top and the bottom of the cake was encircled by a piece of gold braid to give it a decorative edge and tie it in with the cupcakes.

Since it was an adoption party, we held a coronation for both my kids. My son wore a crown inspired by King Peter’s. This was cut from two layers of craft foam which were glued together to make it sturdier. A third layer of craft foam created raised embellishments, and the final result was spray-painted gold.

The coronation portion of the event was held in front of a storybook backdrop with a lamppost. A fancy chair served as a throne. The setup made a wonderful background for photos.

While some of these ideas require specialty items, many are easy enough that you should be able to adapt them to use for your own special event. I hope you take inspiration from our party to create something wonderful of your own.

WOW. So much detail! I need a lamppost like that!
Like how the “dearest daughter” quote works so well…

Didn’t she do a wonderful job? I’ve had that lamppost for years, but I don’t think it would be too hard to find a similar one new. I told the planner I was bringing it and we were fortunate that the height and color worked so perfectly with the book she had already set up.

Definitely. I was so impressed by the amount of research she had put into finding the quotes, making the party favors, just everything.
