practice cake: Yeah... I'm glad I practiced first!

gift bag: Found these bags in a dollar store, so I put kiddo's present inside and taped Elanor's template to it. 🙂

cake cover: Painted to look like Baymax's storage compartment.

and the crowning piece, the cake: Confetti cake and mock cream frosting on the inside, white fondant and black edible marker on the outside. Pretty proud of it, really. (But note to self: kids don't much like the taste of fondant.)

*Squees* All of it looks so good!! The cake and the cards. It's all too cute. I'm sure the birthday girl was pleased. 😀 (And yes, fondant, everyone always ends up peeling it off. I can only have a bit... too sweet.)

*grins* I'm glad you approve. And yes, bday girl was very happy as well. Shoulda seen her face when the cake was revealed (actually, I think most of the kids were impressed too). And she said something about wanting to hug it. 😀 The head was very popular, haha (kiddo got that, even though it was way too big for her to finish in one go).
(Ahh, really? Noted. Apparently you can buy flavours for it to make it taste better. I'm fine with it so long as it's in moderation and has other flavours (like the mock cream) to pad it.)

OH! I forgot to mention! Kiddo's dad was so cool; I wish he'd told me he'd do this so I could have caught it on video. He brought out the cake all covered and said, "Okay, everybody say, 'Ow...'" And then he lifted the cover and said, "Hello, I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion!" Yeah, I squeed all over myself on the inside. Kiddo has an epic dad, that's all I've got to say!

(So far that's how it's been. Making it from marshmallows has a rather nice taste and it wasn't nearly as sweet.)

I have...never eaten fondant that I can recall. 😯 Should I try it?

@Hobbit: It all depends on the type of fondant. Some taste good, others not so much, but most are VERY sweet. You could probably find a good-tasting recipe for it online if you wanted to taste it.
