Ooh, that's nice, gyps! All those spikes make him look so menacing!

I know, right?? I'm the worst at armor design, and just clothing design in general, especially for villains. And then Gypse is so, so good at all of it so that I can feel bad about myself. 😛

But hey, I got a new eraser! :mrgreen: It works a lot better than my old one.

... And you tell me to quit feeling bad about my stuff. 😆

You'll have to remind me of who these guys are, but until then... wow. Really picking up on a kind of empty sadness in the eyes of the one with the star on his pauldron.

😆 90% of the costumes in my drawings are me bluffing my way through and hoping no one notices.

Maedhros and Fingon in chapter 13 and...well...Maedhros and Fingon again in chapter 20. They're my favorite characters to draw (they're also the ones in the set I'm wearing.....and in the comic........) The right half of that drawing isn't in the book exactly, but it's not too hard to get it to fit in, since the scenes aren't very exhaustive in what happened and what didn't.

I touched up the drawing...now I'm trying to decide whether to update it here on the forums. 🙄

@hobbit: okay. I was wondering if it had any relation to your set. 😀

@Jaygee: Thanks, sister! 😀
@Ariel: Yup. *nodnod*

So today was a reeeeally good day for drawing, and I ended up getting three sketches done this afternoon, and a fourth this evening. Two of them were almost-full-page, so yes. I like days like this.
Unfortunately this one scanned kind of weird and ended up with smudges and streaks across it in odd places, but there's nothing I can do about that. 😕

"But Feanor followed him, and at the door of the king's house he stayed him; and the point of his bright sword he set against Fingolfin's breast. 'See, half-brother!' he said. 'This is sharper than thy tongue. Try but once more to usurp my place and the love of my father, and maybe it will rid the Noldor of one who seeks to be the master of thralls.'"

Thanks, Jaygee! :mrgreen:

I feel bad for pretty much dominating this thread, but I found a quote that kind of actually worked alongside a drawing.

(Told you these two are my favorite to draw. 😛 )

Thanks, Jaygee! :mrgreen:

So after all the serious fan art I've been doing, I thought it was time for something funny. It's a bit morbid still, but everything from the Silm is and you'll have to take that up with Tolkien.

In case the text is hard to read (it was a small drawing and my pencil kept slipping) their shirts say "I survived the first age" and Maglor's has "(maybe)" underneath, due to the uncertainty of his fate. I prefer how it turned out in the published Silm, but...apparently Tolkien's notes aren't 100% clear on it and occasionally contradict themselves.
(The bandage on Maglor's hand is from burning it on the Silmaril. 😛 )

It's so much fun to see Elrond and Galadriel in present-day t-shirts! And it makes the joke funnier. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Jaygee and Hermit! :mrgreen:

Golden-haired elves are significantly more difficult to draw than their darker-haired relatives. So I've been practicing, mostly with Finrod and Glorfindel. In this drawing, the hair actually turned out approximately the right shade, to my surprise. (Last time I drew Finrod he ended up with middle-brown hair, which is very much non-canonical. 😆 )

(Lyrics from "Finrod and Sauron" by Lind Erebros.)
This is the moment when Finrod begins to lose the contest against Sauron and his orc disguise falls away. The blurred effect between the orc disguise and natural elf form was extremely tricky and I'm still not completely satisfied with it, but I can't think of anything else I could have done. 🙄

About these next few: I was looking up Silmarillion fanart the other day and found some racebent stuff (racebent in the usual meaning of the word). It was pretty cool, but in Middle Earth, the word "race" has a slightly different meaning. So I wanted to try my hand at racebending some of the characters, Middle Earth style! Sorry, not sorry. 😛

(Yay for freckles on Maedhros! I've been dying to give him freckles for a while, but for some reason couldn't bring myself to do it as long as he was an elf...)
About Yavanna: I know that she's a Vala, but it does say that they appeared in a form similar to that of the Firstborn, so if the Firstborn were the Periannath rather than the Eldar...!

(Hopefully I didn't exceed my picture limit for one post... 😕 )
