I want to write an Anti-Sue, but I don't really have any ideas... does anyone else?

An anti-Sue character? Depends on what you want. Do you want your anti-Sue to be the obviously extreme opposite of a Sue or just to be simply a not-Sue?

Well, that was just bad wording on my part... something more like NCK: King Caspian's Revenge, which one the Jackdaw award in 2009. Just something that includes characters being slightly aware of the fact that they are in book and someone has put a Mary Sue into it. Something like that.

I've not read it, but I think I know what you're talking about. 🙂
If your anti-Sue is going to be semi-consciously the opposite of a Sue, you'll want to reverse at least some common Sueish attributes. So use stuff such as ordinary physical features, ordinary tools of the trade (for example: if she's an archer, give her a regular bow, not Susan's), average skill levels that make sense to the character's situation/upbringing/training/etc, actual flaws to overcome (other than clumsiness!), maybe a personality that's a legitimate pain to someone, etc. Oh, and character. Actual, real personality. 😉

I'm sorry, I worded my explanation of my bad wording badly. 😛 I want it to be a Mary-Sue, but the other characters are aware of the fact. I have a friend who wrote a story something like that. 🙂

Ohh, I get it now. 🙂

So in that case, are you looking for plot ideas...?

Ah. Well, it that case then... no, I don't really have any ideas at the moment besides a couple barely-formed plot bunnies from a couple years ago....

Well... okay.... But I'll warn you that it's not developed and that what's below comes from the muddled and dark recesses of my mind, so it may well be weird and/or confusing, heh-heh....

-

My first and main idea has this proposed summary: "You've heard of the White Witch. You know about the Lady of the Green Kirtle. Even the Green Mist, if you've watched the movies. But there is another that ranks up there with them. And she's just as bad as they."

So, basically, my "Mary-Sue" is a witch character (currently titled "The Rose Enchantress" in my notes) who waltzes into Narnia and starts wreaking havoc. Since my idea was to involve characters from multiple time periods in Narnia's history (and since havoc can't be wrought in the Original Narnia), she'd cast a spell that messes the space/time continuum and so bring everyone (or at least the characters she wants) into the same moment in time. (Did I mention this was AU? 😛 )
That's about as far as I figured her nefarious plan. (I don't even know the "why" of her plan....)

Obviously, the Enchantress would be a threat to Narnia, so they will rise up to address said threat. So what is the fate of these poor canon characters? I wrote up a little list of how things would go down.

  • Peter, Edmund, and Caspian are the witch's main targets. They resist, of course, but will fall. Peter and Edmund would be most vulnerable, but the witch would have to draw Caspian away from Lilliandil (who, for the purposes of the story, will not have married Caspian yet).

  • Rilian and Corin would also be targets. Both are, of course, resistant and both are successful. The reasoning behind that being that Rilian has bad memories of Lady Kirtle (wow... I totally forgot I shortened her title to that) and Corin would be uninterested and "witches don't count" (if I use this, it'd be a reference to an old writing contest entry that greatly amused me). These two would eventually take charge of battle against the Enchantress.

  • Tirian, Eustace, and Cor would also be targeted, but not as intensely as the above five. The thought was to make them resistant, but unsuccessful. Tirian and Eustace would eventually fall, but Cor must be drawn away from Aravis first (who, like Lilliandil, would be girlfriend/fiancee status).

  • Lilliandil and Aravis have the role of the hurt sweethearts who, obviously, want their men back. (That's not to say that they're total wimps though.)

  • Susan, Lucy, and Jill would be particularly worried about Peter, Edmund, and Eustace. Susan and Lucy, since they're queens, would have to shoulder more and more of the burden.

  • Digory, Cornelius, and Glimfeather would be the key council members. Digory may be targeted (depending on what age I place him in), but probably wouldn't fall.

  • Polly, Mrs. Beaver, Windmane (Glenstorm's wife), and Tumnus have the important role of comforters and probably counsellors. Windmane would probably participate in the battle.

  • Oreius and Glenstorm are, naturally, the generals. Their army would include Suncloud, Ironhoof, Rainstone (these three are Glenstorm's sons), Asterius, Tavros, Tyrus (the satyr Miraz killed), Randy (the "random faun" on the Dawn Treader), and Lightning Bolt (the kid centaur in PC).
  • -

If that made any sense at all whatsoever.
As for the other ideas, they're not developed at all. The thought was that if the above story ever turned into something and I enjoyed it, then I could write sequels. The three sequel ideas are:

  • a Gary-Stu villain

  • a character currently titled as the "Violet Siren" (this would likely be set at sea)

  • two fangirls (currently listed as Maria and Suzette) who are apprentices to the "Rose Enchantress" (and possibly the "Violet Siren") and target Peter and Edmund
  • *collapses from effort and semi-embarassment*

lol, at least I now know that someone doesn't think it's a dumb idea. Still no idea if I'd get sufficient inspiration to actually write it though. Maybe, maybe not. 🙂

I guess I might as well note that my "Rose Enchantress" idea is not necessarily based on the idea that the Enchantress herself is a Sueish character; it was more an idea by which I could express distaste for mainly-pointless-romance Sue stories (not that all Sues are romantic interest characters and not that all OC romantic interests are Sues). Of course, if you decide to try it out or just borrow various ideas, you can easily make it whatever you want.
