Uh...probably grab a sword or some other weapon, and then hit the bell lightly with the hammer. And keep my eyes peeled for witches popping out of nowhere suddenly or waxworks coming to life.

(Maybe so, but I still woke up in a muck sweat, it scared me that badly.)
My actions would be determined by why I didn't want to fight in the first place, but I'd probably end up dying not far into it.
