Oh, sorry, cor!

The following post contains spoilers for season 3, episodes 1-3. According to a youtube video I saw that broke down possible okay-to-talk-about-stuff timeframes, it should be safe to post this as the third episode aired a week ago. But in case you want the disclaimer anyway, spoiler alert.

I just realized that I don't remember what all was episode 1 and episode 2, so I didn't put stuff in order. Sorry.

A random construction worker by the name of Jose is terrified because he is suddenly melting certain metals and there's a bunch of military-looking peeps hunting for him. Then some people (aka our protagonists) show up and tell him to hop into this escape-pod-type-thing and trust them and save questions for later. Skye/Daisy gives him the very short version of what happened to him (alien DNA, terragenesis, etc) and tells him that he's gonna have to stay with SHIELD until they deem him safe to release back into the world. He's not pleased with that. Daisy's also hoping that he'll be a potential recruit for her Inhuman team, but Andrew (May's ex) does his psychologist bit and recommends the usual three months of waiting and watching. And she's not happy with that.
Speaking of Daisy's yet-to-be-formed Inhuman team, she has tried to talk Lincoln into it, but he consistently refuses. He (and kinda she) are attacked by another Inhuman, a blue beast who can really take a hit and who goes around killing other Inhumans (which he apparently did in the comics because he doesn't believe that every Inhuman is worthy of the power they receive), but they escape him and we haven't heard of him again yet. Lincoln, obviously, has to book it to save his life. He tries to get help from a friend, but doesn't tell him what's going on; as a result, the friend freaks out and dies of a heart attack when Lincoln uses his powers mildly to get out. Daisy nearly convinces him to return with her to SHIELD, but the aforementioned military-esque guys show up and Lincoln books it again.
Coulson has the leader of abovementioned military-esque's leader, Rosalind, tracked down so he can chat with her. They have a fantastic dialogue exchange (seriously, brilliant writing there) in which we basically find that both organizations think that the other is to blame for the Inhumans that are dead before either can show up on the scene. The unit is also a governement-sanctioned group answering to the president. By the end of ep 3, they still don't trust each other, but Coulson offers to work with her to protect his own interests and people.
Hunter leaves to hunt down Ward for what he did to Bobbi at the end of last season. Bobbi wants to come with, but Hunter tells her to stay put, let her knee heal, and in general just not get into another situation in which he might lose her again. He tracks down May, who didn't return since the season 2 finale and has been hiding out with her elderly dad (who's a hoot, btw). She doesn't want to get back into the action, but Hunter convinces her to join him in his manhunt by working their way up to Ward from the bottom, "hail Hydra and all that". They meet up with an old contact of Hunter's, who gets them in to "prove themselves" (Hunter has to win a brutal fight (or two or three)). End of ep 3 sees him beat up pretty bad, but in.
Fitz is working tirelessly on figuring out how to get Simmons out of the Monolith, even single-handedly dealing with a Middle-Eastern gang. He gains a piece of info regarding the Monolith, a single Hebrew word on a parchment: "death". The others try to comfort him and convince him to live on now that Simmons is gone. Fitz agrees... then sneaks into the room with the Monolith, opens its cage, and then pounds and yells at it to "do something!" With the help of an Asgardian, the team learns more about the Monolith and finds a curious room in an oooooold English castle that was used to control when the portal (for that's what the Monolith is) opens. The machine breaks down before they can quite achieve it, but Daisy is able to use her powers to open and sustain it. The plan had been to drop a probe down there, but Fitz (lovely, brave, stupid fool that he is), jumps in with a lifeline about him. He makes it back with Simmons just as Daisy can no longer hold the portal open and it shatters.
As a result of being on an alien planet for months, Simmons is having difficulty readjusting. She's hyper-sensitive to sounds, unused to the different gravity, and sleeps with a shard or stake ready for attack. Bobbi encourages Fitz to not so much push Simmons to getting reacquainted with what she used to love, but to give her something to look forward too; with that advice, he takes Simmons to the restaurant he'd made (and kept) a reservation at months ago before the Monolith sucked her in. She breaks down and cries on his shoulder.
Oh, and Ward recruited Baron von Strucker's son, who is now taking Psychology 101 with Andrew (May's ex). O_O

*takes a deep breath* That's the jist of it.

Wow. Just finished the last episode and boy oh boy so much is going on. I think my feels are hurting after that one scene. Hopefully a theory of mine is true... otherwise - gah.

For anyone wanting spoilers highlight below:
Coulson wants to recruit other inhumans and uses Alisha, the red haired girl who can make multiples of herself, to help with that goal. However, the plan does not work as Lash kills the prospective recruits before vanishing once more. So, the team goes in to figure out why the inhumans were killed and possibly get a lead on the killer and discover that an email containing a virus used to track infected tech was sent to several of the inhumans who had been killed. Thus the team is able to track down the culprit behind the email and find that he too is an inhuman, but he is working for Lash. When said inhuman is taken in by the ATCU, Daisy and Mack are given permission to travel along to find out the conditions of ATCU's facility. While on the road, Lash makes his attack and kills the inhuman but does not do the same to Daisy who sees Lash's shadow transform from his creature form to that of a man. On to Jemma - she has improved somewhat but is obviously still damaged from her experiences. She wanted to keep her studies on the Monolith a secret from Fitz, but he finds out and becomes concerned and at the end of the episode she decides to open up about her experiences which will be explained in the next ep. (noooooooooooooooooooooooo) Ahem. Meanwhile, Hunter makes serious progress in his goal and ends up confronting Ward. Backup, er May, arrives in the nick of time but something happens neither he nor May are prepared for - a friend's life on the line. Andrew, May's ex, is surrounded by Ward's men that will kill him if an advance is made. Hunter disregards the words of Ward and goes after him resulting in an ending that one may assume is the death of Andrew.

Concerning the last bit - I've been discussing my theory with Eria and have found that I'm not alone in my thinking - if it turns out to be true 1) I will be so happy 2) I will be upset 3) Everything in ep 4 will connect in pleasing way (for me at least) and 4) I would love to see how the rest of the series turns out.

I did not come to the same conclusion as Ela and Eria. But the more we talk, the more it's making sense.... O_O

So, last night's episode... it was so very different from what we're used to with SHIELD but I think it did a great job developing Jemma as a character. Those who ship FitzSimmons won't be happy though. 😉 Still, my sister has planted ideas that a particular person may not be all he says he is and she has some fine points. Ah, SHIELD, why can't any characters be trustworthy besides the mains? *sigh*

Which particular person, Ela? The one we talked about or the other one?

Yep. I'm looking forward to even more after having watched the trailer. Cap and Bucky - that's all I need to say.

I'm still fangirling. *cough* not that you can't tell from my set *cough*

Pretty much what Elanor said. Cap and Bucky. Though I'm also going to add Falcon. All three.
I was surprised at how much they teased at Black Panther. I hope he's cool. Concept art has him in the Team Iron Man roster. I wonder if that's the case or not.
I'm also surprised that they did not tease Spiderman, considering how many fans are so stoked about that.
I'm hoping that the concept art of Team Cap indicates that Ant-Man is going to ride one of Hawkeye's arrows. (Ant-Man is on Hawkeye's shoulder.)
And I'm hoping I'm right in thinking that Falcon and Ant-Man are gonna be pals. 😛
I'm really digging how (at least, from how the trailer is structured) Bucky is the kickstarter of (or possibly even the the embodiment of) the controversy (ie: constitutional rights vs security). Makes it very personal, particularly for Cap. Which I'm really, really, really hoping means loads of character development!
And Cap and Bucky, duh.
On that note, is War Machine dead in that one shot? 'cause that'd bump up the tension....
"He's my friend." "So was I." O_O I'm not so sure I'd confidently label them "friends", not in the way Cap is with Falcon, but I'm hoping that has punch in the movie anyway.
Speaking of, Cap and Falcon.
Bucky vs Iron Man, that part in which he grabs for the chest-piece. Dunno why, but I'm looking forward to that.
By the way, a lot of people hunting Cap... why do I have a sense of deja vu? 😛
"Sometimes, I want to punch you in your perfect teeth." Characteristic Stark, but I think I'm sensing much less malice than normal. Unless that's just the pacing and music of the trailer talking.
I also dig the fact that Falcon's not just blindly, "Uh, yeah, I'm with Cap on this one." He's actually got legitimate concern. "I just think we have to consider all our options. The people who shoot at you tend to shoot at me too."
I'm also curious as to how they're going to end this movie, because the comics... *refrains from saying potential spoiler even though she doubts they'll do it*
And I'm hoping that the conflict is not too much in Cap's favour (wow, did I just say that out loud? 😛 ) because I want to be thinking about the controversy myself after I walk out of the movie.
Oh, and did I mention Cap, Bucky, and Falcon?! 😀

... I'm still fangirling. *cough* not that you can't tell from my post *cough*

I'm feeling kinda sad (I hope war machine isn't dead.I like him and tony.)

And Hawkeye and Nat on differant teams? It makes me feel sad. I know they had a clip in the footage shown at D23.
And Nat concerned for Cap and trying to convince him to go along. 🙁

"He's My Friend."
"So was I."

:'(

And BUCKY!! He knows him.

And *points to Ariel's comic book spoiler* BETTER NOT HAPPEN!

I am still in a state of feels! Basically, what everyone said. it was amazing.

I haven't watched any of the Iron Man movies (though I did see one two fight scenes involving Rhodey) and Ultron bored me (and even the cartoon show has very little of him), so I have no reason to like War Machine, but. Seeing him there. Like that. With Stark. It made me care! To the point of hoping with you that he's not dead. But then kinda sorta hoping he is because deaths are such great motivators and character-developers (I'm looking at you, How to Train Your Dragon and Big Hero 6!). But I guess we'll see. (Besides, they've brought everybody else back. 😛 )

I'm wholly unconcerned about Hawkeye and Widow being on separate teams. Especially since Hawkeye is on Team Cap. (From what I see on the Marvel wikia, Hawkeye always sides with Cap whenever there's division.) And besides, if it means character development...!
Yes, I did like that. She and Falcon contrast each other beautiful. She's against but concerned, he's for but concerned.

I KNOW! I WILL NOT BE HAPPY IF THAT HAPPENS! I WILL BE VERY MUCH UPSET. (Though it could, in theory, upgrade one of two roles. Which may or may not coincide with something I heard about the actor.)

---

EDIT: Unrelated to Civil War, Ant-Man's coming out on DVD Dec 8. And the release trailer is not like any I've seen before. 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVZdjJNQzoA (YouTube.com is not affiliated with TLC; click at your own risk.)

---

EDIT: Back to Civil War, I notice that the dead-or-unconscious War Machine has part of his armour's chest piece ripped out. Which, judging by the way Bucky grabs at Iron Man's,I assume is Bucky's doing. Which has me wondering about whether or not said damage could kill Rhodey. Unlike Stark, Rhodey doesn't have an arc reactor in his chest to worry about, but I seem to remember him feeling pain when his chest-light is attacked in the Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon.

So I just saw Ant Man last night with my family, and it wasn't as scary as I feared. I liked it! Peggy Carter Win!

(my only wish would have been for the little girl to squish Yellowjacket, but then the ending wouldn't have been as good I guess.)

And then when they got stuck in the briefcase, Siri turning and playing a song on was funny!

(Also "How is Your Face?" to the guy that Hank punched all those ago, was such a perfect insult. 😛

Aw man, I forgot about this thread. I still haven't seen Ant-Man, but my library is ordering it and I should watch it within a month.

I thought that the mid-season finale of AoS was not as climactic as they had lead us to believe - the last 5 minutes were super stressful, but I found the rest of the episode kinda bland. Although I was really not expecting that to happen to Will.
And - Daisy and Lincoln?? Where did that come from???

@Lil: Ditto on Peggy Carter, Siri, and "How's your face?" 😀

@Shield: what killed the mid-season finale of AoS was Coulson. Literally. The way he killed Ward was what went wrong.
It-using-host-bodies was one of six or seven theories I had. 😀 I also read some fan theories regarding "It", so I'm curious to see if said fans are right. In any case, I'm pretty sure it's going to boil down to It vs Lash.
Daisy and Lincoln have been a thing since Afterlife, more or less. Just not necessarily as obvious as SkyeWard, FitzSimmons, BirdHunter, Kara/Ward, RosaPhil (now that is the one I require an explanation for!), or even Melindrew.
