One thing I'm really wondering about is how GotG is going to tie in to the rest of the cinematic universe. I read somewhere that it was supposed to be a stand-alone movie, but really, how likely is that (especially now that they're tying it in to AoS)??

And AHH i have so many FEELS about the mid-season finale of AoS!! I'm not gonna be able to wait for the show to pick up again. 😛

Guardians is tied into Agents now?! (*is slightly behind* Though a friend was kind enough to tell me that... that... 🙁 I like him! A lot!)

Anyway. Guardians opens the MCU up to the Inhumans (who are aliens) and Captain Marvel (whose powers originate from Mar-Vel, a Kree). Perhaps they'll tie in more with Guardians 2, since #1 was their origin story.

So for anyone who follows Agents of SHIELD... I just found out that Skye's real name reveal is not just a reveal of her name... but of her identity. She's actually a canon character, Daisy Johnson aka "Quake". I know nothing about this character except the wee bits of her that appears in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Has anybody else seen GotG and can explain it a bit to me? I just saw it tonight, and found it "meh."

Once I see it myself (whenever I get around to it...), I'll try to help. 🙂 Unless there's something I can try to answer now?

Okay, thanks, Ariel. I just don't understand all the fuss about it. Like did I miss something big about the movie that made it so great? Or did I just not enjoy it? The best part was the soundtrack.

Haha. I'm wondering what the hype is myself. Of course, not having seen it, I'm at something of a disadvantage. While I don't think the Guardians are /wildly/ popular in the Marvel Universe, I know that Rocket has oomph with the fanbase. I think part of the hype too is that this expands the MCU, in the words of Buzz Lightyear, "to infinity and beyond", that is, to include more easily aliens and so on (including the alien-powers-origins of Captain Marvel).
As for how great the movie is, I know a lot of people think highly of it. I've been disappointed/bored-out-of-my-gut by enough highly-reviewed superhero movies to know that I can't trust reviews. Except PluggedIn. And from what I gather from PluggedIn, it was cool to see this band of naughty misfits redeem themselves. But then PluggedIn points out that they don't actually, for lack of a better word, "repent" their misdeeds, which is a character development downer.

Probably wasn't any help, was I?

GotG was basically a space Avengers. I think the hype mostly comes from the shift in Marvel's movies (going from super-hero-y to more space adventures) and the fact that the main characters are actually criminals and outlaws instead of a Captain America type.

Also, Groot is just a big ball of sunshine and happiness and is absolutely adorable.

Overall I think it was a good movie, but I don't think there's anything that specifically makes it really good and deserving of the hype. I think a lot of the excitement might just be because it's a Marvel movie...

I saw the "dance-off" scene... and now I too am wondering why everyone thinks it's a great movie. Yikes. But, yeah, I think Shield is right about the fact that it's got hype 'cause it's Marvel. A secular reviewer said of GotG that he's sure he'll pretty much watch anything Marvel no matter what they put out because GotG is the proof of that.

In other news, I saw the first episode of Agent Carter. She's cool but seems to be prematurely feministic. And Jarvis. Oh boy, I like Jarvis. And Daniel Suza (the agent with the crutch). I do have a problem with the disguise she used, though, and I'm hoping she doesn't resort to it again.

I think our brains must be connected, Ariel, because that was my same reaction to the first ep of Agent Carter. I am so loving Jarvis. *insert British squee* And thumbs down on Carter's disguise. And then her flatmate... :'(

Haha, perhaps they are. 😀
I think I'm only going to like Jarvis more as time goes on. And I love how so very proper he is even in intense situations. 😆 Can't wait to see Peggy mess with his schedule, mwahaha.
Yeah... even if the lipstick was useful (and totally unassuming! lipsticks have weird names...).
Ugh, poor Colleen (haha, I like that you refer to her as a "flatmate" even though it's set in America...). And so very unnecessary (I mean, beyond it being an unnecessary death). It's not like she was in any shape to be a threat of any kind, 'cause even if she tried to scream, she'd just end up coughing her lungs out. Just saying. And what's wrong with just chloroforming her? Puts her out of the way, is harmless, and is one less thing on your criminal record.

I like the word "flatmate" much more than "roommate." Cheers, BBC Sherlock!
Oh, goodness, yes! Jarvis is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see more of him.
I'm wondering if perhaps they followed Peggy back, and then just assumed that was her in the bed. If they had known it wasn't Peggy, they probably would've left her, or knocked her out. That's the idea that I got anyway. They shot Colleen because they thought she was Peggy.
