@Ariel: Yeah, I've got a three-octave range most days. The lowest I've ever gone is two B's below middle C (but that's only on a remarkably good singing day), and the highest is I-have-no-idea. But it tends to be three octaves, and on lower days I can go lower but not as high, and on higher days it's vice-versa. So...I have a wide range but it's unpredictable, so I'm not sure if that's even what one could call an advantage. π
I read somewhere that apparently they'd originally planned on doing the entire LOTR story, but they ran out of money...? I dunno.
@Tooky: My teacher said I'm a classical singer but I might be able to sing jazz. I almost hope not, in a strange way, since jazz is one of those extremely rare genres of music that I don't like at all. π I'll take classical, though. Two of my favorite singers--who are possibly my two absolute favorite singers--have classical voices.
I'd like to try musical theater sometime! It kind of sounds like fun, and I've never had the chance to give it a go.
@Tooky: huh! I know nothing about sewing, so Iβm not sure Iβm imagining these skirts right, but they sound interesting and not necessarily all that hard.
@hobbit: I think Iβd heard that too. There is a separate animated RotK, but I think it was made by different people.
Wooo sorry I have't been online in a few days folks
out-of-state robotics competition π
That's a pretty good reason to not be online, pev. π How'd you do?
Eh did one-above-average scoring so
GREAT
hehe
Excited things are gonna go well now
*pops in*
Ajjie is still alive and...graduating from her doctorate in a month's time
Things are a bit odd at the moment as I've been lecturing part time (only once a week) this term and I'm almost done (got some marking of tests to do next week). In the meantime, I've been planning my trip to the US at the end of April (going to a friend's wedding). And also waiting to see if I can get a permanent lecturing job at my uni.
I watched the animated Lord of the Rings before the live action ones came out. But only part 1 so the ending was really abrupt. We watched it in Grade 8 after reading the Hobbit (for some reason we had access to part 1 of LotR and not the animated Hobbit). This was mid 2001, so not that long before the first movie but you can imagine the effect finally seeing the live action FotR had on me 6 months later. (For reference I had read 2/3 of LotR two years previously).
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
Congrats on your upcoming graduation, Ajjie!
Hop boy, I can just imagine the jump it was from animated LotR to the live-action. Especially in such a short amount of time.
He is risen!!!
He does all things well.
He is risen indeed!!
Happy Easter!
Yeeeees, happy Easter to all!!
Happy Easter, everyone!
Hey everyone! It's been forever!!! I just wanted to pop in and say hey. Life is crazy busy for me now - at the end of July my sister and I moved an hour and a half away from home and I'm now attending college, which is a huge change for me. I am also continuing to work while I'm in school, so that is a challenge. I am studying American Sign Language & Interpreting, if that is of interest to anyone. π Anyway, I can't promise I'll be around much, but I just wanted to say hello! I hope everyone is well. π
Shi! Itβs been ages! Glad youβre doing well! And ASL and the interpretation thereof is of interest to me. I know the alphabet and a few words, so the two times Iβve talked with deaf people has been very, very slow....
Ooh, ASL! I studied it very briefly a few years ago and am thinking of picking it up again, though I'm not sure where or how to study it...
@Ariel: Fingerspelling is a life saver if you donβt know the words, but I am not very fast at it so I completely understand! Sometimes I have to ask people to sign slower. π Iβm sure itβll come with practice though.
@Hobbit: im pretty sure you can find some free stuff online! Also community colleges sometimes have ASL courses. There are also some apps for iPhone (Iβm not sure about other phones). π
