Woo, this thread's dusty!
So I was wondering if anyone's seen the new trailer for Jungle Book and what your thoughts on it are.
I haven't seen it. 😕
I only accidentally found out about it yesterday. Personally, I didn't think Bagheera's voice matched... him, if you get my meaning. It also looks like it might be more true to the original story as elements look like another animated Jungle Book I've seen.
Which one? There are two Jungle Book's coming out.
There are?! Oh, yeah, that's right.... I'm referring to the Disney one. Is there even a trailer for the other one yet?
No haven't seen it yet! Sounds interesting.
I just watched it. It looks interesting and the CGI is /very/ good, but I'm still not sure if I like this idea of "live-action-ing" all the classic Disney films (I think this one will be based on the film rather than the book as with the other adaptations). I /am/ looking forward to Serkis', though.
Point on "live-action-ing". I'm nervous about Beauty and the Beast....
Right! Serkis! That's who's doing the other one!
*nods* Same. And Mulan.
Yep. And he'll be in it (as Baloo) along with Smaug and Galadriel. 😉
O_O They're doing Mulan too?!
Oh, that's right. Here I was thinking, "Why did I forget about this one because I /know/ I recognized a portion of the cast.... (Whereas with Disney, I'm familiar with almost all the actors that have been listed.)
Yeah, along with a lot of others including: The Sword in the Stone, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin (prequel). Is it just me, or is this getting a bit out of hand? 😛
I think both have their share of recognizable actors which makes me wonder how well each of them will do, especially when released within a year of each other.
I'm pretty excited about Beauty and the Beast!
Why, I wonder, are there two Jungle Books being made, and why so close together?
Winnie the Pooh? How do you make that live action?
It doesn't make much sense that there would be two, but they'll be different. From what I've gathered Disney's will be mostly based on the Disney animated film and Serkis' on the book by Kipling.
@Ela: *groans* Why? Just why? And who wants Pinnochio?! Sword in the Stone, Aladdin, and Little Mermaid, I can see, but Pinnochio and Dumbo?!
@Shi: I'm really hoping Beauty and the Beast is good. I love the animated one to pieces and wouldn't want this to ruin the tale, especially as Cinderella didn't /really/ impress. But then, BatB has story advantage.
I wonder if Jungle Book has just entered public domain? That's why we saw a sudden plethora of Sherlock stuff all at the same time a few years ago (The new movies, BBC and Elementary).
