Watched "The King's Speech" today.
Also watched "One Night With the King".
In case anyone wants advice, do NOT watch "The King's Speech" unless you want to know every cuss word in existence. 😯 I was caught completely off-guard. I'm still kind of in shock.
But it was fun to see John Noble and John Rhys-Davies in "One Night With the King". Even if they did use quite a bit of artistic license with the story of Esther in the script. 😛 Still hilarious to see Denethor and Gimli in another movie together.
Well, "The King's Speech" was rated R for language. I watched it about a week ago and loved it: it was quite an inspirational and touching film for me and I can see why it was lauded as it was. And if one mutes or skip a couple scenes it's really a rather tame film on par with any other BBC dramas.
It was that...one scene especially. Don't watch it with your younger brothers and your mom in the same room. 😯 My youngest brother told me he's afraid do say anything for fear of letting one of his newfound swear words pop out of his mouth. For crying out loud, a third of those I hadn't ever heard before!
But the movie wasn't violent or anything, this is true. I just wish they could have passed on the language.
Ditto to both of you. I loved the movie, but I think they could have eased up a bit with the language... 😕
@hobbit and alex: Youch, sorry about your King's Speech experience. I'd have warned you if I'd known.
I loved King's Speech, but yes, it is rated R for a reason. Try VidAngel? It's supposed to mute that for you.
It didn't bother me as much because I've been /called/ every one of those words before so I didn't "learn" anything new, but I would not recommend it.
.....What, I used to work at a retirement home. I quit because I was sick of being called a ******** *** all the time so I switched jobs. Curse words are so much more offensive when directed /at/ you.
That Colin Firth though.
Haven't seen anything new lately. Watching Avatar Reruns and keeping up with Flash and Agent Carter.
I want Peggy's wardrobe. And Anna Jarvis's.
@Hobbit: Wait, Denethor was in One Night with the King?
Oh, yes I can vouch for VidAngel (not affiliated with TLC; explore at your own risk). It is an exceptional program if one rents movies online: it mutes and skips scenes that are undesirable for the viewer (one chooses his own settings) and new films are constantly being added. 🙂
*edit*
Watched Royal Wedding starring Fred Astaire and Jane Powell.
@ Jaygee: Yeah. We were sitting there watching and he came on and Alex was like, "Wait, is that Denethor????!!" And we looked it up and yep, it was he!
Have you seen "One Night With the King"?
And VidAngel sounds fantastic. I'll have to mention it to my mom. 🙂
Many times. 😀 I love it!
He played Admantha.
Yeah, now that I think about it, I think I remember him...
I remember Denethor in that film, but I don't remember Gimli....
Watched a heavy-sitter of a PG-13 WWII movie last night, but it was good. Excepting the way the flashback scenes were handled, I was very much impressed. It was similar to others I've been watching recently, but also very different, the latter being largely due to theme differences.
He's Mordecai. 😀
We started Sense and Sensibility tonight. 😀
I was wondering. I just don't remember what Mordecai looked like.
