@Feather: Oh, ok. The narrator was the author. You should read the books. Fox really enjoyed them 🙂
I really enjoyed watching it, too. In the books, the author was this beautifully sarcastic creature who didn't care about writing a normal book. He once filled about two pages of the book with the word "ever", while expressing that one should never ever ever ever... do something or other. I don't remember what it was.
So having him played in the show as the random narrator was awesome (in my opinion).
I agree, I loved what they did with it. The acting and editing choices are intentional to stay with the feel of the books, which are strange, witty, and sarcastic.
But of course everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. ^-^
@Hobbit: Okay. I thought well, he was way to strong. It shouldn't have been placed on earth. I mean, if two beings with practically no weakness are gonna fight, it should be somewhere with no other people.
@Pev: Okay, I guess that's a valid reason. I've thought it over, too, but I figured that Kal didn't have much choice in the location of the battle, although I believe (for a couple reasons) he tried his best. First, he flew all the way around to the other side of the planet to destroy the other part of the world engine in a place that wasn't as densely populated, though it would have likely been quicker to destroy the main engine in Metropolis. And second, he started the first fight with Zod on his own farm and I'm positive he didn't intend to bring it into Smallville, while Zod kept bringing the fight back into more heavily-populated areas. (Plus there was that bit where the armed forces tried to blow up all the Kryptonians, including Kal. To paraphrase a How It Should Have Ended, "Yeah, what was that going to do? Shower Smallville with hugs?") And during the battle in Metropolis, it seems like whenever Kal was on the offensive, he tried as often as possible to keep it higher up in the air.
Aaaand then when he tried to do better in BvS by taking Doomsday into space he just got nuked for his efforts. So there's that. It's just a lose-lose situation.
Also, as far as the destruction during both battles on Earth in MoS goes, everyone seems to forget that a good deal of it is Kal getting thrown through things by the other Kryptonians. So I'm sure he would have loved it if there had been a little less of that. 😛
(Side note, though: does it seem rather hypocritical of Batman for getting all upset at Superman for unintentionally destroying things during his battle with Zod [who caused much more of the damage then Superman], but then bringing Doomsday back into the city when he could just as easily have gone back and brought the Kryptonite spear to where Doomsday already was in a much less-populated area?)
Anyway, that's my opinion.
...*whew*
Sorry, that was kind of a long post for the general movie thread. I'd have put it in the DC thread if there was one. Mods, is there a different place I should have put it?
I'd say that unless there's going to be lengthy discussion of this topic (or other things related to DC films), then it's fine here.
Okay. 🙂
My family has been rewatching Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye.
On my own, I've been rewatching Star Wars, since Aygee got them for me for Christmas. 😀 Today, I'm on Revenge of the Sith (watching in my own 'parallel order' *points to SW thread*).
There can be a DC thread if anyone else wants to fangirl over the Flash with me. *Looks over at the Star Labs hoodie she wears the majority of time spent at home*
After Sherlock was over (Still not 100% sure how I feel about that. The end scene itself was top notch) I stayed with my PBS station and watched the first episode of Victoria. I highly recommend it. If you wanted to watch the Crown but were turned off by it's M rating (Which is due to a few random elements meant solely to get that M rating :eyeroll: ) Victoria is a good place to start. The first episode was quite clean and the sets are gorgeous and the acting is wonderful.
@Hobbit: Thanks for that lengthy comment. 😛
I guess there is a lot to that, but I was thinking WHY didn't the creators at least make things a little more........ safe for the world. I guess I mean that it didn't make sense. Earth people couldn't damage those kreeepy guys if they tried, so I guess it was basically making earth a battleground for a major one-on-one battle. Something I thought totally unnecessary and kinda wrong.
Oh well. I guess it all worked out fine, aside from tons of people dying and all. Like that is ever "fine". XD So I don't have to switch over to the DC thread I am ending this conversation. 🙂
Sherlock ended with a bang. That ending. I don't think I've seen a better show ending. It was very satisfying, even if the events of the ep were twisted to say the least.
*really really really really really really really really really really really wants to see it*
...even if the events of the ep were twisted to say the least.
Twisted as in...? *still hasn't seen more of the show than a few bits of various episodes and the Studio C spoof*
@Hobbit: Kinda hard to explain but twisted in an almost horror sense, maybe.
I was gonna say, "Not quite in a 'horror sense'", but then I remembered that opening scene I barely watched (I don't do well with scary). The opening scene does play out like a horror show. The rest of the ep's "twisted-ness" is because of its darker nature and sorta... "psychology". I'm tempted to say it's like a psychological thriller, except that I haven't actually seen a psychological thriller that I know of....
Flip-side, I watched Ant-Man for the first time since buying the DVD a few months ago. 🙂
