@Ariel: You must tell me what you think. I quite liked it, myself.
@Hans: Bitte.
I had no idea what the White Rose was, until recently - why wasn't I taught about it in school? Anyway, I find what they did admirable, especially when their lives were at risk.
So, today I watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas because I've been meaning to see it for a while now. I already knew the story, so I wasn't surprised at the end. It wasn't a /bad/ film, some of the subtler scenes were done well, but it wasn't the emotional experience as others have told me: I didn't even tear up.
*Edit*
Watched The Wipers Times, a film about the newspaper by soldiers for soldiers during WWI. Very interesting, especially because it's a true story that followed the creator of the paper. It is edited in a strange way, but I think it makes sense for what it wants to accomplish. Disclaimer: there is some inappropriate content, a bit of swearing, intimation of certain subjects, and some, but not much, violence.
Also watched Sophie Scholl again. I have to come the conclusion that I love that film. The ending is near perfect - my heart beats harder than it should, I get goosebumps, and I tear up at one particular part. Well done, just well done. I can't recommend this one enough.
I'll let you know once I get it. 🙂
I agree with you on Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I had been told it was a sad story, but wasn't told to what extent; yet once he crawled under the wire into the camp, I knew exactly what was gonna happen. I like the movie, but the emotional aspect wasn't strong. (Perhaps because it's a kids' book and therefore not to be too traumatizing?)
🙂
I think it was because I didn't feel bad for the parents. Bruno did not deserve it (NO ONE deserved that), but I just couldn't feel empathy for them and that is what normally gets me.
I think that's because they only did so much with the parents. Mr was so distant and seemingly unconcerned on a relational level; Mrs was just sorta there and then went a little reclusive in a sense toward the end.
Mm, perhaps.
Just finished the two hour Agent Carter premiere along with the Captain America 75th Anniversary Special.
PM/chat me to tell me about it?
Finished Dragons: Riders and Defenders. I started RttE now and can't stop.

edit:
Just finished Sophie Scholl: The Final Days. Wowee, did it make me think. Definitely watching again before returning it to the library. (PG-13 warning)
I was just watching a video from the Dimond Brothers. Against prayer meeting of Assisi 1986 and canonisation of its perpetrator.
I've been watching Downton Abbey... only on the 4th season though...
Just watched The Book Thief. Interesting the whole way through, but my family and I were trying to determine what the whole point was. Any insight from anyone who's seen/read it? (I've never read it.)
@Shi: I'm reading it right now and I plan on watching it after I finish it. I'll PM you when I finish, if you'd like. 🙂
I just watched Jurassic World. Awesome plot, but some pretty bad words and refrences. Very good plot.
@Ella: yes, please! And I'll be sure to message you when I finish The Giver. 🙂
I watched The Book Thief and I totally see where you're coming from, Shi. The book was so much clearer on the story it wanted to tell and the film felt like it was missing something - some element that made the book /work/. It wasn't a good adaption, probably leaning more towards the bad side of them, in my opinion, but I couldn't say it was as bad as Private Peaceful. Without taking the book into consideration I'd rate it "okay". I know it is a film I would not want to sit through again, but a first watch wouldn't do a person harm.
