I found a copy of Avalon by Stephen R. Lawhead (!!!!!!!!!!!). I devoured it and loved it. It's been a few years since I've read the rest of the series, though, so I'm planning on starting Taliesin soon.

@anyone wondering about the series - it's a Celtic twist on the legend of King Arthur. The series is 6 books long (although the first three are pretty standalone - the 4th and 5th are kinda confusing, and the 6th one is incredibly hard to find). The first one is definitely of the fantasy genre, but it moves into a more political series after. It is a Christian series, but the plot is rather roundabout in that way and it takes a long time to arrive anywhere near a Christian point of view. There is some adult content, so younger/more sensitive readers might not want to read it.

Started Ella Enchanted again, but had to stop because RL stuff needs to get done.

I started reading "Out of the Silent Planet" for the first time. I think I'm about 9 chapters into it. So far it's kind of weird, but interesting.

I also began listening to "The Hunger Games" on audiobook.

@Shi: the Trilogy is kinda weird, but I can tell you that I appreciated it better the second time around. 🙂

The Space Trilogy, you mean? It is actually the only thing besides Narnia that I've read by him. (Well, began to read anyway.) Of course I've heard many quotes by him - but I haven't actually read any of his other works. So it is quite a different from Narnia. 😉

Yeah, it is very different. I'd like to hear your thoughts on it when you're done! And I recommend Screwtape and Till We Have Faces for future reading. 🙂

Ok! It will probably be a while till I finish, especially since I'm listening to the Hunger Games. I'm getting through those much faster than reading. 🙂

Shall I tell thee what myself hast been reading? Indeed, shall I. I give recommendations to all of you on these books.

1) The Mysterious Benedict Society, and the other three in the series. (which I am about to read)
2) Roald Dahl, and pretty much anything he wrote. (which I have recently read most of. James and the Giant Peach, The BFG, etc.)
3) G.A. Henty. All of the Henty books are exciting works of awesome adventure. They are fictional stories that are in the happenings of real-life events all throughout history. They were more intended for boys, but I am sure any adventure reader should like them.

Anything exciting and awesome I should read? I am dying for more. XD

Ooh, I've read a few of G.A. Henty's books! There were one or two that weren't quite my cup of tea, but the rest were wonderful. 🙂
Have you read much "Sherlock Holmes", Pev?

@knight: Jane Grey... why do I feel like that's a familiar name?
@pev: Sorry, haven't been reading much in those categories recently. If you're looking for non-fiction WWII stuff though.... 😛

I just read a book about Jane Grey as well, Knight! "Three Maids for a Crown". Again, it's best for adults/older teens, not so much because the writer goes out of their way to put in mature content, but because there were a lot of things that happened on the historical record that are a bit grisly. It wasn't my favorite book ever nor one I think I'll reread but I don't regret reading it, it was simply the history of the Grey sisters put in a narrative form with the author speculating on how they would have felt about the events that were happening to them.

As for who Lady Jane Grey was she was queen for about a week between King Edward VI and Bloody Mary. She was a devout Protestant (Not even for political reasons, she was very sincere in her faith) and because of that her cousin King Edward VI named her as his heir. She didn't really care to be queen, but she was used as a pawn by her father and father-in-law to seize power. She was imprisoned for about a year and executed about a year later for treason, though Mary was actually friends with her and planned on silently pardoning her but a bunch of Protestants didn't get the memo and tried to break her out which lead to Mary realizing she couldn't reign with someone who had claimed to be queen still living.

I've been reading more about the Tudor period because I'm going on vacation to London this Winter and I want to get the most out of the historical places that I'll be visiting and the Tudor dynasty is related closely to the events that took place in a lot of things I'll be seeing, namely the Tower of London.
