That graphic novel sounds interesting!
*admits that she hasn’t finished reading Miracles*
Yeah, and I was surprised at how much I got engrossed in it since I'm usually not that interested in history...
😆
Reading, Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson, with my brother.
He does all things well.
Over the Christmas holidays, I read through one of two volumes of the complete Sherlock Holmes library. Slowly working though volume two, as well as reading through Laura Weymouth’s “Light Between the Worlds” with Kristi and Ajjie (on which, I believe, Kristi has put a content advisory, because of thematic elements that I haven’t reached yet).
Rereading The Light Between Worlds and rereading Out of the Silent Planet for the Mythgard Academy book group on Wednesday nights (See article on our homepage for more info). And by that I mean I'm listening to the audiobooks. That counts, right? I say that totally counts. (It's almost the only way I intake books anymore.)
At least I think I'm rereading OotSP...I have no memory of any of this...
Oh man, I need to reread the Space Trilogy...it's been like 5 years since my last go.
I re-read Ender's Game for the first time in nearly six years a couple weeks ago, then read the first Ranger's Apprentice, and have just now finished Ender's Shadow (the ending of which brought on tears, much to my surprise).
(It should be noted that Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow have some problematic content (moreso with Ender's Shadow), mostly in the area of language. They are not TLC-recommended.)
I'm currently reading The Count Of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, it's been a year since I began reading it (I was borrowing it from the library) and I finally got my own copy last Christmas. I'm about halfway done with it, I'm starting chapter 68 tomorrow and I'm trying to read at least two chapters a day so I finish the book by father's day. It's a rather intriguing book. I'm not going to lie, I was first drawn to it after I heard a few songs from the musical. No books have ever made me cry apart from the Bible and The Phantom Of The Opera by Gaston Leroux, but this one easily takes Phantom's number 2 spot in my list of favorite books. I cried for Edmund's father and Abbe Faria. Overrall I enjoy seeing The Count interact with his "friends" and playing nice to them all the while he's scheming. I just know something HUGE is going to happen. At the moment he's doing small things, such as bribing a telegraph to change a message, but I have a good feeling it's all going to snowball.
Reading Eric Metaxas (is that how his last name is spelled?) Martin Luther biography. It is real well written and I've been learning quite a lot.
He does all things well.
Finally finished CS Lewis’ Miracles (after a ridiculously long hiatus). Starting a biography titled Miracle for Jen.
Update: Still haven't finished the book. Got busy. I made it passed chapter 70 so that's a milestone. 39 chapters to go.
my brother and I almost finished reading Eric Metaxas book about Martin Luther. (The 1500's Reformer)
He does all things well.
I'm finishing Skyward with my brother. It is a good read; I like Brandon Sanderson quite a bit.
He does all things well.
KoN, I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on Skyward, and when you get a chance, the sequel Starsight (which I just finished about three weeks ago). The books have very different feels, and I am still not sure how I feel about some of the differences. M-bot's character development is interesting, though, particularly near the end.
I am about half-way through the same Martin Luther book. It is really well-written. I;m also about half-way through Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson. Honestly, I kind of put it down at one point because I got busy and almost feel like it would be better to start the whole thing over.
This past week, I read Strong Poison and Murder Must Advertise by Dorothy Sayers. They are both Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries written in the 1920s/1930s. I particularly enjoyed the second, which involved Lord Peter Bunburying as his supposed cousin to investigate an advertising agency. While the term "Bunburying" was not strictly used to describe his actions, the word was included in a different context. Given how many works of literature Sayers references in her own books, I hove no doubt it was intentional, though.
Having not started Starsight I can't comment. But Skyward was good. M-Bot is a very interesting character along with the main character. She (the main character) evolves quite a bit to the point of not making over the top comments at the end. I haven't started his big book serie. I read Warbreaker and The Reckoner trilogie plus Mistborn. You should finish Martin Luther (Eric Metaxas is American and kind of harps on his importance to American thought but short of that it is a great book).
