@Jaygee: Well, I like Jared for reasons I don't know. I kinda like Samuel too. I like that Sarah's husband is so much a Christ-figure (I hesitate to say Christ Himself at this point). And I like all the history involved (though I'm not drawn enough into the story to be distracted from the fact that these characters are positively ageless...).
@Ariel: I like Jared and Samuel, too. And Aaron (I think you've prolly gotten to him by now...). And Rebecca. And *covers mouth and says, a bit muffled* other-character-you-probably-haven't-met-yet. Yeah, the agelessness is a little strange, but if you think about it, it's kinda necessary; if they weren't ageless, she would have to make up new characters every couple of chapters. That would hard to keep track of. 😉
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I read Harvest of Rubies and Harvest of Gold by Tessa Afshar. I highly recommend them.
Aaron's alright. I think I like the post-Bar Mitzvah him more than wee him, even though it was a kind gesture he made, not to mention that it showed his earnestness in learning. Rebecca's not much to my liking, but perhaps that's because parts of her character remind me of myself.... *snerk* I probably haven't met this other character yet, no. 🙂 I'm going to make a random guess that it's Saul?
It is necessary, so far as the Sarah-basically-equals-Israel part goes. Though I was confused about the timeline for a while at the beginning because I assumed that the timeline had been crunched so that the Exodus happened not-so-many-years ago as opposed to a couple thousand years. But the way she wrote the story (ie: with the stuff that drives me batty and allows things like the characters' ages to distract me), it's so easy to suddenly think, "Um... wait... Sarah is how old now?" or "So if everybody's ageless... how long does it take for a kid to mature in this setting?"
I finally finished Israel, My Beloved early last week and have now moved on (at last!) to Mere Christianity!
OH! I'm reading Mere Christianity right now, too, for the first time! *runs in circles happily* It's so amazing!
I just finished reading Princess Academy. It was really good. Had me up till midnight.
I'm also reading the Percy Jackson series, and I'm on book 2 right now.
I got The Screwtape Letters for my birthday, and so I'm going to be starting that soon...I really want to read all of C.S. Lewis' works.
Screwtape is good stuff. Once you remember that you're not supposed to root for the "good" the demons are doing. 😆
Ooh! Percy Jackson! (Heads up. Never watch the movies! They will ruin your opinion of the books 😛 )
Screwtape is amazing, Quill Jill! I've read it what, four times? Five? Six? Something like that. It never gets boring, and there's something new every time. Have fun!
Wow! Now I am even more excited to read Screwtape Letters! (I have to read it for school). 😀
I am also reading The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell. It's really good! (especially for fantasy lovers! Like me! 😛 ) They talk about Narnia a LOT in it, so that's a major plus. 😀
@cor: I already watched the movies 😮
Just finished re-reading all four of Melanie Dickerson's books (The Healer's Apprentice, The Merchant's Daughter, The Fairest Beauty, The Captive Maiden). I love them more every time I read them!
I have recently been rereading Between Shades of Gray Its a book written by my Mom's friend and I love reading it. 😛 And I also have been slightly challenging myself to reread the Series of Unfortunate Events but.....It's a working progress, and I don't LOVE the books but they're good the first time. 😛
@Jaygee: Those books are on my (very long) to-read list! Thanks for supplying the rest of the titles that I didn't know. 😆
I am FINALLY reading The Last Battle!!!!!!!!!
@cor: YAY!! *does happy dance*
