@Jaygee: Yeah, I had noticed that. *grins* If you read "Planet Narnia", you'll see some more similarities between the Space Trilogy and Narnia (plus a great deal about mythologies). 😀
I've not read Planet Narnia, but I've read The Narnia Code. Yeah, actually rereading Narnia Code was what made me wanna reread The Space Trilogy. 😀
I think "Narnia Code" was an earlier edition of "Planet Narnia". If I remember correctly....
It's an abridged version of Planet Narnia... Also, Weston reminds me of Uncle Andrew for some reason....
Might have something to do with deviousness and devilishness and selfishness and apathy. 🙂
Oh WHOA, yeah!!! He does remind me of Uncle Andrew! I seriously need to re-read those books! 😛
That Hideous Strength -- errm, it seemed a bit weird; I didn't quite get the whole idea of what they were supposed to be doing. Heheh. *SPOILER LINES* AND, notice that at the end of THS, Ransom ends up going off for eternity back to Perelandra or something like that. As you seem to be on Narnia and Space Trilogy parallels, his going to Perelandra is kinda like Reepicheep in VDT? If you see what I mean.....?
I think I know what I'll be reading next now........ WHOO-HOO!!! I don't have to dig around my room for something now! 😆 😀
Huhu, another book I really like, The A-Z of C.S.Lewis , is a really good book, like a dictionary of all of his writings. It explains some stuff, and its really interesting!
@Nia: I didn't understand THS the first time I read it (which was weird considering how slowly I went through the first two books but couldn't for the life of me put the third one down!), but the second time around (and a couple years later), it made so much more sense.
Whoa, I didn't notice the Ransom/Reep parallel! Hmm....
Meanwhile... I'm partway through VDT. 🙂
I haven't read the Narnia Code/Planet Narnia, but I have met Dr. Michael Ward. He was a regular at the CS Lewis society in Oxford and always had comments to make after the talks. He also gave a talk on the first Hobbit film just after it came out which he said was the first time he was talking on Tolkien instead of Lewis. I was never formally introduced to him, but I always saw him around and after the very last meeting of my second year when we were leaving I heard him saying to someone that he thought he should read Tolkien's Notion Club Papers and I turned to him and said "yes, you really should read them." I wonder if he did 😛
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
I heard him speak once and he gave glimpses of LWW, PC, and I think a bit of VDT. That got me interested in the book. I wish I could have met him (even if all I did was give him a one-liner like you did, Ajjie 😀 ).
Finished That Hideous Strength...
Now, on to Screwtape!
Ooh, we're doing Screwtape for Sunday school!
I still need to finish Screwtape. 😳
Well, yeah, my mom teaches the Sunday school. And I won't say anything about how much I've read and enjoyed the book because I'm sure that had absolutely no effect at all on her decision... 😆
