Since this came up in the other thread, and I started a discussion on FB, I thought we should make a thread for who you'd like to see cast in the different roles.

As I've already told some people, I'd like to see Puddleglum played by one of the Doctors (after Tom Baker did such a good job). At first this started out as a joke, but I actually think Peter Capaldi has the looks to pull it off (and I love his accent). One of my friends suggested Christopher Eccleston, who has the personality and also an appropriate accent, but I don't think he's quite skinny enough 😉

Is it weird that the only two actors I can think of aren't ones I necessarily think are perfect for the role of Puddleglum?
One is Benedict Cumberbatch (he's tall, skinny, has some great facial expressions... but I've never heard him do a melancholy voice, which might be just too deep for Puddleglum?).

The other is Robert Carlyle, whom I've only seen in two roles (he's great as serious characters, has a wide range of vocal and facial expression, and we know from Once Upon a Time that he really pulls off the slimey/scaly skin texture and tone as well as the longish-hair look... but his voice might be a bit too mellow?)

I've seen the first dude somewhere before.... don't know where. 😀 But I still think of Legolas. 😀

Well, I already said this in the other board, but I would cast Dean O'Gorman as Rilian. I think that Saiorse Ronan would have been good for Jill, but she is too old.

Cumberbatch's voice would be good, and he could pull of the pessimism well. I'd also thought of Robert Carlyle (though I didn't know his name 😉 and agree he has the looks.

Here's a picture of Peter Capaldi for those who don't know who he is:

Any ideas for actresses to play the Emerald Witch?

Whoa. I don't know squat about Capaldi (except that he's the latest Doctor), but I will say he's got a great face for the role! 😆

LotGK.... That'll take some thought.

This is the only kid/teen actor I know anything about aside from the Narnia cast. Thoughts on his being the new Eustace?

He was great in Real Steel (he was lovable and yet had a major attitude I'd never want to see in a kid). He was also kid-Thor in the Marvel movie and the voice of Jamie in Rise of the Guardians. And I really want to know how he'd be as Henry in Once Upon a Time, but that's another story. 😀

What about Gillian Anderson for Lady of the Green Kirtle. But when I say her, I mean with how she looks as the character of Lady Deadlock in Bleak House. I don't know if I can do a picture since I'm on my iPod.
Any thoughts?

*looks her up* Ooh, yes she could work. I saw her as Miss Havisham in a production of Great Expectations. Her skin and hair were so pale (almost unearthly) - that could work well for the Underland look. I'd suggest green contacts though 😉

Did you look her up as Lady Deadlock? 🙂
How do you all post pictures directly into the forum?

Yeah that's who Shi and I casted as the LOTGK. I hope she looks young enough. Green contacts would be good! 😀

Hmm.... I think that Amanda Waters might make a good actress for Jill. Yes, she did play a wonderful Polly in the Madie DVDs too. 😀

You know, I really do have to agree with Gypsy about Amanda Waters. The character she played was completely opposite to Jill, but she can really act and would be terrific.

@Shi: You find the picture of your choice (so long as it follows TLC graphics rules), then click on the "Img" button when you post a reply, and then paste the image location (the url to the direct image) between the tags.

This is Gillian Anderson as Lady Dedlock, for those who want to know.

I myself don't know what to think. She looks really young and fresh in some pictures and kind of old and pucker-lipped in others.

I don't know how well she acts since I've only seen Hugo once and haven't seen her in anything else, but Chloe Grace Moretz at least, I think anyway, has the looks of a Jill.

I think the first one would do good for LotGK

... There's only been one suggestion for LotGK so far. The other picture I posted was of a possible Jill.
