I just saw the Hobbit trailer! I died of awesomeness!
Have any of you noticed the two simaler line:
"Was that the volcano?"
And:
"Was that an earthquake?"
*dies all over again*
@Jaygee: I agree that it's better than Kili/Tauriel. But I don't know, there could still be something .... Cause it kind of sounds like Legolas likes her and maybe not vice versa (?).
@Gyps: I didn't notice that.
It's sort of comparing Narnia and The Hobbit. The two lines said by Gail and that one dude. 😀 😆
Oh yeah Gyps!!! I think I remember saying that before too!
@Ann: I thought I was the only one that thought he sounded different! It's good to know someone else does. 😛
@Jaygee: I hoping that it won't be anything but a friendship, and PJ did confirm that there was nothing between Tauriel and Legolas...
@Gypsy: As I haven't watched VDT in a year, I didn't notice that. 😛
I know, Elanor! What's wrong with his voice? Maybe the lines they chose were just really weird lines for him...or maybe he is trying to sound less "bumbly" now that he is becoming more "courageous" and adventurous" ?
Well.......Kili could still like Tauriel... =P
That's a good way to describe it, Always.
@Gyps: nice observation! (but it's Gael with an "e")
@Elanor: Point. Thanks for that reminder.
@Ann: When I first watched the trailer and heard the first word "Truly" I didn't know it was him. I think he sounded different in the beginning because he was trembling at the sight of Smaug and his "enormity" (which means both maliciousness and size). In the "My courage" lines he sounded very different. I can't put my finger on it but I think you're right about him becoming more "courageous", and therefore his voice changed to accompany that.
@Ariel: Thanks. 😀
I love the dragon... forgot it's name though....
And I love the talent the elfs have to jump off something and shoot arrows at the same time. 😀
Loved it. Cumber-Smaug!
I also noticed Bilbo sounded different. I couldn't work out who it was until we saw him. I figured it was because we were thrown into the middle of the dialogue. Also, he was flattering Smaug, so I guess there was a tone of sarcasm in his voice.
Since I don't think anyone else has mentioned it: I loved the Gandalf and Dol Guldur scenes, and shivered at the Eye of Sauron flashing by.
The scene with Bilbo and the ring was also great - and funny, though ominous since he lied to Gandalf. I hope they haven't shown all the good quotes in the trailer though.
Spiders!
BeornBear!!!? (though only a fleeting glimpse; not nearly enough)
It seems to me that they've completely rewritten the Elven-caves bit of the story. Looks like Thorin comes to them asking for help, and even telling them his plans (as opposed to their kidnapping in the book). I don't know if they even get thrown in prison, since next we see them in a boat supposedly lent to them by the elves. Not sure how I feel about this, since it means we don't get to see Bilbo's thievery (proof he really makes a good burglar) and his wonderful barrel plan. I guess I should have seen that coming though, with the stuff we saw in the teaser trailer.
Anyway, I think those are all my thoughts. Except Cumber-Smaug! When he started speaking, for a second I thought he sounded too much like Gollum (probably because he was saying "thief!"), but then he kept going and it was unmistakably Cumberbatch's voice. I'm interested to see what they'll do to make Smaug and Sauron's voices different.
Right. Now I'm done 🙂
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
About finding the ring in the goblin cave, that looks like a different scene than when he found the ring in UJ. He picks it up and puts his hand over his mouth (in the new DOS trailer), which I don't recall him doing in the first movie. Am I wrong?
I actually noticed that too. Are you sure it's the goblin cave. It might be a scene from DoS where he drops it or something and that's him picking it up again.
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
Yes. The location matches Mirkwood, and I think it slips out of his pocket or something, and he's covering his mouth in relief that he found it again.
Oh that would make sense. It's just, it seemed to coincide with him talking about the goblin cave. In the trailer I mean. But trailers can kind of mix things up sometimes.
