Peter Hollens has produced a fantastic cover of Ed Sheeran's "I See Fire" (DoS credits song). I like it more than the original. 🙂

O.O That's WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!! I have to agree with you, he has great talent 😉
I'm going crazy waiting to see it!!! *sigh* I'm not sure when I'm gonna get to see it though. I can't go Friday because of stuff going on, so I'm hoping Saturday, but I don't know because on Sunday, the rest of my family wants to go see Frozen (and I do too, even though I already saw it). So we'll see when I get to see it. But I can't, can't, can't wait!!!!!!!
Going tonight! 😀
Same here NG. As far as I knew there were no midnight premiers here. I found out today that we actually could have gone to a pre-release today (12th) at 5.00 or 8.30pm. It wouldn't have worked though, 'cause my dad and brother are going with me and they both have work so 5 would be too early and 8 would mean getting home to late for the early rise tomorrow.
To complicate matters, this weekend is basically the start of Summer (the 16th is a public holiday and the official start of the summer hols, but being a Monday this year that makes this a long weekend). Summer + Christmas in a city with a beach means shopping malls packed with holiday makers from all over the country, so we're trying to find a good time to avoid the crowds - Friday night not being optimal. I've suggested we go to one of the less popular malls, which will help. Tomorrow night could work, but my dad will need to be available to fetch my sister from a function about half way through the film so it's probably out. Saturday my brother has stuff most of the day, though we could possibly get Saturday night to work (but that means late home and up early for church). At the moment Sunday is looking the best, although that's the day of Mandela's funeral (not sure if my family wants to watch it or not). Yeah so a really long essay to say I'm not sure when we'll get to seeing it.
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
We're going to see it tomorrow (13th) in the afternoon. 🙂
Only a few more hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *mega squee*
I can't see it for awhile, so I hope people will report in. How exciting that the day is finally here!
I was gonna get to see it tomorrow, but unfortunately no. 🙁 Waaaaaaah!!! There is still a teeny, tiny chance that I might, but more likely not.
SO I saw it Thursday night and I truly loved it! There were so many funny moments and Martin-Bilbo was just hilarious and quirky as usual. Thranduil was fantastic , Beorn was great, Thorin had some very nice moments including humor... :D, Tauriel (in my opinion) belongs in ME and she fits quite well in the movie and I think she is a wonderful character I can't wait for more of her in TABA. Legolas was there just to show off his amazing fighting stunts and be a prince 😛 but he's still great 😉 Kili and Fili both had touching moments and they were great 😀
So, the Kili/Tauriel romance is really nothing, and although I was dreading anything to do with it I thought it was so great and sweet ^.^ I know an elf/dwarf romance is not Tolkien at all but it is so innocent and sweet you can't help but smile, but this is just my opinion 🙂
Beorn had too little time and I really wanted more, his house is very book-verse-esque and so magical that i wish PJ had cut scenes off the end of the dwarf/smaug attack and had more time for Beorn and Thranduil. Both these characters stay very close to the book and you can't help wanting to spend more time with them. Except that scar..ick!
The spotlight really was never taken off Bilbo he had so many great moments and was the hero at every turn, what could Thorin do without him 🙂 And the scenes having to do with the arkenstone are so great as well 😉 Also don't worry even though the trailers hinted at there being lots of Tauriel and Legolas stealing the show it was phony, they are in it but they don't take anything away from the story, the quest still has the spotlight.
SMAUG WAS AMAZING everything about him was STUNNING if you were hoping for a ginormous, amazing, arrogant, scary, and talking dragon you got it 😉 The scene with Bilbo and Smaug was one of the best scenes in the entire movie it is very book verse.
There was one scene that should have seriously been removed, the cgi used definetley looked it and just was too silly to be anything but, it has to do with a certain gold statue 😉
So I would say GO AND SEE IT!!!!!! And decide for yourself, although it doesn't go very book-verse the spirit of The Hobbit is definetley there, and personally I find PJ's version a lot more interesting and heartwarming then the book (if you take the statue out of course >.<)
