Yeah, it's faint but if you listen for it you'll hear it. 🙂

The other line was said when he, (wet, cold, and in a blanket), was handed his blue coat in Bard's house.

Well, let's see...
The first scene was an interesting choice to start the movie out. I kept waiting to see Strider sitting in his corner, even though Viggo said he wasn't going to be in The Hobbit. Moving on to Beorn... How do you guys pronounce it? In the movie they were saying, Bay-orn, but to me, I've always read and pronounced it as the Scandinavian "Bee-orn." I seriously think that they should have spent more time in Beorn's house. It was gorgeous and they didn't nearly show enough of it! Beorn is one of my favorite characters. When I saw the first picture of him, I was horrified. He looked terrible! But he wasn't that bad in the movie. He still looks nothing like I imagined and what is up with his eyebrows? Ew! Anyway, in short, he was better than I expected him to be.

I also thought that the dwarves didn't spend enough time in Mirkwood. It was like a speed tour. I didn't get the feeling that they were hopelessly lost and desperate, ready to give up. I wanted to hear Bilbo taunting the spiders with "Attercop!" There was enough of the spiders though. *shudders* I'm not afraid of spiders after living in Africa, but heebie-jeebies! Those spiders are creepy! The elves coming in was okay. I'm not opposed to it. I like how Bilbo slipped passed Leggy through the gate. I really, really loved when Legolas took Gloin's pictures. "That's my wee laddie, Gimli." Everyone in the entire theater laughed.

It was so great when Bilbo let all the dwarves into the barrels and then into the river, but forgot himself! Bombur was awesome. It was ridiculous, rolling back and forth between the two banks, but so funny. I did enjoy Kili's moment of heroicness, and I was glad they didn't turn it into a Boromir scene. Shoot him, fall down, get up, shoot him again, fall down again, get back up again, etc. I was really thankful that the elves didn't dominate the movie like I was afraid they would. Leggy was so funny when he was standing on the dwarves' heads and shooting, and then jumping from barrel to barrel. It was like he was playing hopscotch!

I really liked Bard. I liked his family as well. "Da, why are their dwarves coming out of our toilet?" I also liked how the kids called Bard "Da" instead of "Dad" or "Father." It seemed more fitting. I loved the music theme for Laketown. It's very interesting.

Finally, on to the mountain! I liked how the dwarves nearly left and gave up! But you knew that they couldn't. Smaug was amazing. I don't have any complaints except for one that I can't lay my finger on. It's something that DragonEustace had that Smaug seemed to be lacking. I just don't know what it is!
What in Middle Earth was Thorin thinking, to just follow Bilbo down and walk in? That was a stupid choice. But it worked, I guess. The statue was ridiculous and cool at the same time. Smaug covered in gold was really neat!

I loved the ending. I love cliff-hangers and I felt like the ending of AUJ wasn't enough to make me come back and see the next. People are gonna have to see TABA now!

That's all the thoughts I have right now. I'll probably have more later.

Told you you had stuff to say. 😀

Your comment about DragonEustace vs Smaug is interesting. I'd have to see both movies again to be able to help, but it's definitely something interesting....

Great thoughts Engee. 😀

I SO wished that Bilbo would taunt them! I had a feeling that they wouldn't, too "children'sbookish" I guess. You can at least hear "attercop" as a sort of nod to the book.

Concerning the dragons, is it Smaug's lack of front legs? 😛

Hmm, I don't know, Ela. I don't think it was that. I think it's something with his skin/scales or something. I need to rewatch VTD and see DoS again.

I have here two pictures,
NOTE:(the Smaug one is the only one that has been released thus far and does not look EXACTLY the way he is actually seen in the film but it is the closest):

Well I can see straight away that there is a difference with their eyes; Eustace's have a much more "human" quality to them. The scales are also quite different; Eustace's look much bumpier and I find that they look somewhat like what one would see on an cgi dinosaur, (which is not a bad thing in the slightest). Smaug's scales look somewhat like a snake around the face. Also in the film I noticed that Smaug's neck is very long as well as being saggy/wrinkly like a lizard's and his belly/chest lit up before he breathed fire, (which I loved!).

Here Eustace also seems to have ears and frills while Smaug has what look like spikes/horns without any "ears" or at least noticeable ears.

There are actually a good number of differences between the two but I just pointed out what were the most noticeable for me. Smaug, to me, is the more terrifying dragon while EustaceDragon, in my opinion, is cute. ^.^

Anything I missed that you see?

I think that Smaug was much more realistic looking, but he's not the typical dragon look, more like a serpent. But isn't he supposed to be serpent-y? Eustace was more typical dragon.

I think I read somewhere that Smaug isn't technically a dragon but a wyvern-a dragon with wings but without REAL front legs like traditional European dragons; it did work because, as you said, he was supposed to be serpent-like or worm-like.

The wyvern look didn't really bother me (possibly because the Monstrous Nightmare dragon in HTTYD is built like that and I'm used to it). He was still incredibly imposing.

News flash from Peter Jackson:
The Hobbit: There and Back Again has been renamed The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Jackson stated on his facebook page, "“There and Back Again” felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo’s arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced—after all, Bilbo has already arrived “there” in the "Desolation of Smaug". ...And so: "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" it is." He also mentioned that the extended cut of The Desolation of Smaug there will be over 25 minutes of new scenes.

Eria just showed me that... I don't really know how to take it since I've been anticipating "There and Back Again" 😛 but the title doesn't matter all too much I guess. (At least it's better than "Into the Fire" which was speculated to possibly become the third films title.)

The 25+ minutes are good! I can't wait for the ee. 😀
