Topic starter

I agree Ariel the tone is definitely more solemn then the earlier trailers, including Bilbo's walking song (sung by Billy Boyd, from RoTK of course 😉 ) was a great move and made it overwhelmingly touching.
When news for the trailer first broke, it was said to be a 'Bilbo focused' trailer, but with the name change came the teaser change, which to me was a great move.

I know Legolas and Tauriel are still hot topics when it comes to stealing the spotlight but seriously Bilbo voiced over the beginning (and was also shown more times then anyone in the trailer 😉 ) and Thorin got 2 lines and quite a few scenes and Tauriel and Legolas said absolutely NOTHING and there part was so minimal I can hardly remember anything concerning them. Not to mention the only official posters released for the film only consist of Bilbo, Smaug, and Bard. But why would you want a lot of Thorin and Bilbo? That's what I was afraid of I want them kept secret preccious..yesss...secrrreet... There were too many spoilers regarding them already >.< (Was this a rant..yeah it kinda was... 🙄 😕 )

@Ela yes you can definitely feel the shifting tone between the whimsy AUJ to FoTR And BoTFA seems like it is set to bridge them together! And yes I really want to know that too..but don't please WB don't spoil to much leave it for the theatre experience!! 😀

So on another note, the trailer was breathtaking, heart-stopping, and emotional for me. Every moment weaving the tale we know is to come. The thumping steps of the dwarves as they march in Erebor a moment that drew the tears, almost imitating my heart beat. And then the song... it really is touching, this is the absolute ending of ME its done OVER, and that song really ties it all together. Then Thorin's ending line.... 😥 😳 I lost it.... It's like PJ is pushing the fact that ME is gone, and he is asking just as Thorin is, are you willing to follow him through ME one last time?
I know I will!!!

So yes this was a pretty long post.. xD But can you tell when I am passionate about something? Yeah it shows 😳

Points on Bilbo's narration and Tauriel and Legolas not having any lines whatsoever. Still bugs me that they showed up, what, four times?
*grins* Well, they can still show a lot of Bilbo and Thorn without showing anything regarding the Arkenstone.
And oh my word, the poster! It looks great!
Ah, yes, the last of Middle-earth. I'd rather forgotten about that.

I actually hadn't seen any of the posters except for the one of Smaug and Bard. And then I looked up others. They're cool too. 😀
(I like what you did with the Bilbo one, btw. 😀 )

The Bard and Smaug one is pretty fantastic! I remember when I first saw it, made me so happy and excited. I wonder if it's foreshadowing how he will actually kill Smaug - with his bow and not the windlass thing. I HOPE he does end up killing him with his bow.
Is there more than the two Bard and Bilbo ones?
(Thanks! :D)

I think so. There are one or two involving Laketown and fire. And I think a couple others.
My guess is that he will. 🙂

Hmm, interesting, I only remember two official posters released. 😛
Let's hope that's the case! But with the evidence thus far I suppose it's safe to assume that he will.

In the mean time, just for fun, what is everyone looking forward to the most? I haven't settled on a definite list yet but here's what I'm looking forward to:

5. Deaths of certain characters - (not necessarily "looking forward to" since it sounds sadistic but I want to see exactly the way things turn out. I also wonder if more main characters will die than is written in the book.
4. Auction at Bag End
3. Funeral and the return journey.... that should be sad and touching if done correctly.
2.Bard defeating Smaug
1. Arkenstone politics (I want to see how they do this now that some little things have been changed.)

Hmm... I think I'm mostly looking forward to Bard vs Smaug (and how Bard will manage to break out of jail 😛 ).
I expect (read: hope) that Thorin will be mortally wounded epicly (considering that he's not supposed to die in the battle itself). I hope to goodness that Kili doesn't die trying to be Tauriel's Dwarf in shining armour. 🙄 (I'm kinda looking forward to his death in that I'm sadistic enough to hope that Tauriel lives on, shattered by sorrow. It's not her I hate. Just this totally whacked-up romance.) Oh, I'm also hoping that Thorin will be able to apologize to Bilbo and that it will trigger the feels. 😀

ERIA- *DIES LAUGHING at your signature* Do you know I have never actually seen Thor. Just a fan of Tom Hiddleston! But your signature is so funny!

So I liked Pippin's song in the BOFA trailer. I am not so happy about the Gandalf part. Of course, I haven't been pleased with Gandalf's adventures on his own anyways.

What is with the army on goats?

I can't wait for more of Bard, though!

Do you all think Bilbo will be a peacekeeper or will they make him fight, too?

Of course love the song.

The trailer didn't seem to show a whole lot (I guess it was a teaser, though.)

I know this has to include Battle of the Five Armies, but I hope the whole movie isn't nothing but battles (I get bored of them after a while.)

@always: I hope they made him try to secure peace. Arkenstone and all. He's proved in the last two movies that he can and will fight, but it's clear that it's not his thing. (I mean, Sam, of all hobbits, eventually becomes a more formidable warrior than Bilbo!) and besides, keeping that would add to the tension. And to the sad feeling of seeing Thorin going downhill fast.

He /may/ fight but [hopefully] not for long. They may decide to have him go through a share of the battle because having him knocked out might not be best film wise. The only way I could see that happen would be if it's a flashback - but I hardly think they will do that.

Yes, he can fight when he HAS to, I just hope they don't make him a huge part of the battle- hopefully he's off with Bard and the men dealing over the Arkenstone.

O, haha! Ela, I hadn't seen that scene yet! Bilbo is so amusing! I wonder why they cut THAT scene out- it seems to me that Mirkwood could have been prolonged! It was actually one of the best parts it just needed more time.

Oh, come on, they cut that? I mean, carrying Bombur's not fun at all, but still! "Nope, don't see any problems - uh, here's one..." Ah, Bilbo. And the faces he makes!! I don't care if Martin Freeman is type-cast as the unwilling adventurer. He nails it! Easily one of my favourite actors!

I don't know why they cut that- couldn't they have cut a Tauriel scene and actually put the river in Mirkwood IN the movie!?!?!?
*book fan shakes her head*
