Drago is coming back? Where did you hear that? Have you actually read the books? I haven't.
=D
@Ariel: That's kinda what I was thinking, *points to my post above.* I think if it went that direction it would still be heart rending but definitely not as tragic as if he died.
@Anne: It was in an interview with one of the filmmakers. 🙂
Ela- O okay. I haven't actually watched a lot of Interviews for HTTYD. Stink. Drago is coming back!??!?! 😀 Arghhhh!
@always: I read an article that mentioned the director talking about Drago and the eventual disappearance of the dragons. As for the books, I've only read the first three. Granted, the movies are nothing like the books (and are way better, personal opinion).
@Ela: oh, whoops. Totally forgot you'd said that! 😀
Okay! Do you tend to like books or movies better? I glanced at the first HTTYD book once but that's about all.
Usually, I'm a book-verse person, but with HTTYD, I'm movie-verse, hands-down! My biggest problem with the books is the insane amount of body "humour" (it's basically written for seven-year-old boys who think boogers and farting are hilarious). I don't know what the rest of the books are like, but I did notice that book #3 had much less of that going on than #1 did. I'm also not a fan of book!Toothless: he's a prissy prat with a ridiculous attitude. And I prefer the plot of the movies over those of the books. But anyway. 🙂
Yeah that doesn't seem to be like a very enjoyable read.
Well, my brother loved the books because he's in the group with the boys who think boogers and farting are hilarious. 😆 I enjoyed them despite said mentioned body-humor. I think they are a hilarious read and good fun, especially for younger kids. And book!Toothless, though winy, cracks me up. In the books Hiccup is awesome because of himself, where I feel like in the movie he's awesome because he has Toothless. And even though I really like Astrid, she just doesn't make up for the lack of Kamikaze. And I really wish the villain of the movies would be Alvin the Treacherous. When I saw the first movie, I was really disappointed, because it felt like they just stole the names of the characters and then made up their own storyline, but the more I've watched it and been exposed to it, the more I've enjoyed it. Currently, I love movie!Toothless and Hiccup just as much as I love book!Toothless and Hiccup.
@Engee: have you seen the HTTYD tv show? It's certainly not impressive, but I'm curious as to your opinion of Alvin.
I've seen some of the shows. Hmmm, who is Alvin?
Alvin the Treacherous is one of the bad guys of the HTTYD world, both in the books and the movie/tv-verse. In the tv show, he used to be a Berkian, but he was exiled (and started up a community on Outcast Island) and he and Stoick are bitter foes. I think he was in one of the books that I read, but I don't remember what his story is there.
I *Think* he might have been in one of the TV shows I watched. We have a few on DVD. They're not as good as the movies, but they were pretty entertaining nonetheless.
So is Astrid NOT in the books?
Yeah, the TV show doesn't live up to the movies and even contradicts them, but anyway.
I'm not sure about Astrid. She wasn't in the three that I read. Maybe she's the movie version of Kamikaze? *looks at Engee for help*
Alvin the Treacherous first appears in book 2 and is Hiccup's arch enemy. The entertaining thing about Alvin is at the end of every book you think he's finally dead, but nope! He comes back again, just missing another body part. 😆 He's not really at all like the Alvin they show in the tv show. Interesting tidbit: Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) voices Alvin in the tv show.
Astrid is not in the books, and I'm pretty sure she's not supposed to be the movie version of Camicaze. They're too different. Camicaze is tiny, hyperactive, a skilled burglar (she stole Stoik's underpants off of him) and she doesn't like guys, except for Hiccup. She's also very loyal and is not romantically interested in Hiccup at all. She accompanies Hiccup on his adventures from book 3 and on. I find it interesting that according to the HTTYD wiki site, "Camicazi has an extremely rare mood dragon called Stormfly who changes color according to her mood and turns purple when she is not telling the truth, which is often." So the film writer's stole the name of Camicazi's dragon for Astrid's dragon.
(Heh, he sounds like MacGyver's arch enemy: you think he's dead, but he keeps on coming back....) Oh, yeah, I forgot Mark Hamill voiced him.
I didn't mean that Astrid was an exact copy (haha, or even a semi-copy) of Camicaze, but okay. 🙂 I don't remember book!Stormfly... was she in book 2?
