Really? 😯 Wow...maybe it was just the way they put it in the summary, then. 😕 (They don't cover the different authors' writing styles in the summaries, just the general plot line.)
I sort of liked Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but pretty much every other story I read I'd be like, "Okay, don't want to end the school day with that! I should probably read another one to clear that one out of my immediate memory!" and then I'd be like, "Neeeever mind!" They don't even cover any of Conan-Doyle's writing, which made me mad. The only stories with admirable messaged do far have been Pride and Prejudice and Pilgrim's Progress, so they put those first and third in the book to get them over with.
But really, from reading these summaries, it makes you wonder if there's anything important to these writers besides romance! And on top of all that, anything having to do with any religion, especially Christianity, is sorely lacking in their stories, aside from the occasional priest or parson.
I love P&P. Just sayin. 😉
My sister loves it, too. She once read it three times in a week.
@Hobbit: One should never judge a book by the summary. 😉 If you ever get the chance, I suggest you pick it up. I don't like it so much as a romance, even though that is what it is, but I love the main character as she becomes so complex as the story progresses and that she is able to make the best of her terrible situation. It's all about character for me and Jane Eyre delivers very well on that front.
It's too bad you feel that way. If it interests you, Jane Eyre is a devout Christian and has to overcome her desires in order to remain right with God.
On a separate but related note, I'd rather read a good story that omitted references to any religion rather than one that had a poor story and blatant religious message.
@Hobbit: I don't love it that much, but it is my favorite of the books from that time period, with North and South being 2nd.
I feel your pain, hobbit. Though I wonder sometimes how I'd take some of those stories now.
Morning!

What is it?

Hey guys guess what! We have a new schedule system and on it all of our positions and who holds them are written.
I'm on there as a leader of my favorite position. Only five out of 60 of us are named it. 😀 IPoS Lead.
I think I like this.
That's great, Tenny!
