Shasta got Rhindon today! This thing is bigger than what William Moseley had. Has to be. It's so long! And heavy. I realized today that carrying a sword all day long on one's hip would not be a picnic. (Until, you know, you got used to it.) Still have to hang it up on my wall though. Funny thing is, the letter-opener is actually the better replica: it has two different lines of the poem on the blade and the little engraved lions are right-side up. This big one has the same line on each side of the blade, the lions are upside-down, and one side of the blade definitely has "China" stamped on it. 😛

Shasta is wondering what the real Shasta would think of Taiwan.

@Nia: I assume he'd like marshmallows...who doesn't?
@Ariel: I guess the weight is why one usually wears a belt slanting diagonally across the chest and back to support the sword.
I wonder why they had the same half of the poem on both sides? That's strange...
He'd probably think it looked like a non-desert Tashbaan, what with the palm trees and cities built on the sides of mountains and elaborate tombs and all. 😛

@Ariel: They're elaborate, all right. I thought the Korean tombs were strange, but Taiwanese graveyards (at least, the ones I saw) are little villages (whole villages, mind you) of perfect little slant-or-curve-roofed, brightly painted houses with doors and windows and everything. Adorable, yes, because they're little towns on the mountainside filled with tiny little houses, but also very, very unusual to me.
Though now that I think of it, traditional Korean graves are more like the tombs of the kings (from HHB) than Taiwanese graves are.

Shasta is back in Korea. It's been a whirlwind week so far, and it's not even over! 😆
