@Ariel: Well, Christmas was shorter, for one thing, and somehow less...happy, I guess? It almost felt forced. It lasts for Christmas Day and that's it. No Advent, no Christmas Eve, no Epiphany, except at the international church. And there were next to no decorations, just a few lights here and there around a store window now and again. You know how St. Patrick's Day is in the States? That's sort of what Christmas felt like here. I dunno. It's hard to explain. Plus we didn't have many of the family-tradition holiday foods because you can't get them here unless you're on one of the military bases or something. And Easter was sort of just like any other Sunday, except that the readings were about the resurrection. After the big service we used to have on Easter at our church in the States, it was...sort of a letdown. But this isn't making any sense. I should just shut up. 🙄
Shasta was surprised to see Majestic-12 [Bot] as a bot on the forums...what on earth??
No, I can see how that would be disappointing.
Shasta.
Hey-o, Sil!
@hobbit: Hmm, I get it. I had Easter culture-shock once, but not for the same reasons (rather the opposite: the Western World was what let me down). And Easter especially, I understand the let-down feeling because the crucifixion and resurrection are so imperative to the Christian faith. You just gotta celebrate our risen Saviour!
Shasta
@Hobbit: oooh that would be quite upsetting!
@Sil: Well hey there! I don't believe we've ever met! I'm Lilliandil, also down as Dilly, or Dilly Pickle (as dubbed by Tenny)
