"Where did Calormenes come from?" Peter groaned.
"What ARE Calormenes?" asked Frodo.

"What are hobbits?" chorused the whole Calormene army. "Hi, Peter!" they chanted in unison
The leader of the Calormenes wore a curious crown which seemed to be made of paper, and had a bag of nuts that he was eating.

"You might know of us as halflings," Frodo offered.
The Calormenes didn't remember ever hearing about hobbits, or halflings, or any other names that Frodo could think of.

The Calormenes all lay flat on the ground, chanting the name of Tash, while the others laughed at them.

Lucy sighed. "Are we going to help Mr. Tumnus or not?"
Faramir and the hobbits jerked up in surprise at the name 'Tumnus'.

"Ho, he's the goaty creature who gave brought us to tea," said one of the hobbits. "He thought we were little Big People, if that makes any sense."
