Pansies are such pretty flowers! I especially like the little ones, for some reason. Maybe it's because every year growing up, there was one solitary, tiny pansy that cropped up on the edge of the garden.
Guess what today (the 20th) is!!!
Uh, just a wild guess...could it be your birthday?

Well, I finished my costume version of Susan's farewell dress. It turned out beautifully! Now I'm working on getting pictures and writing up what I did to post in the costume thread. I can't wait for you to see the pictures! 🙂
I'm so excited for you, Engee!!! 😀 😀 😀 I can't wait to see the pictures!
Can't wait to see!
Mama and I are learning VBS songs... PowerPoint timings can be tricky. 😛
@Engee: Whoo! I'm stoked to see!
I recently discovered the original Thomas Tallis hymn tune on which Ralph Vaughan Williams based his sublime Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis. It's thrilling and haunting and jubilant, and very close to the Vaughan Williams arrangement. (Much more so than I had expected.) Here it is:
(note: this is YouTube, so be aware that it's not part of TLC.)
To my mind, this is praise and worship music to the nth degree.
I still haven't taken pictures of my dress yet. 😳 This week has been too busy with me teaching Bible Clubs and all. We got rained out this morning, but it gave us time to practice and we even got in an awesome field trip!!! Which was...
BEAR HUNTING!
See, where I live bears are very rare. But lately a bear has been spotted wandering the county. About two days ago, it was spotted down the road from my house. This morning, it was in the park and walking down one of the streets of my town. (I don't live in town. I'm out in the country, so I didn't see it then.) But, we happened to be in town at church, working on Bible Club stuff when we heard about it, so my crazy youth pastor loaded us up in the big church van. (Which looks like a big white kidnapper van -- at least, that's what we call it anyway.) Along the way to the park, we ended up following another family from church who said follow them because the bear had left the park. So we headed out of town into a cornfield and stopped and we could see the bear crossing the corn field!!! It was super cool! Then it started to run.
We climbed back into the van and drove a little further down the road and watched. The bear ran across the field into a patch of woods and up the lawn into someone's yard! And the owners happened to be standing right there. So the police drove up and were yelling at them to get back in their house. The bear was scared of everything happening and all the people following it, so it turned away back into the little patch of woods and climbed a tree. Then, we, being stupid, got out of the van and walked over as close as we dared (which was probably a little too close) and took a bunch of pictures of the poor bear up in the tree.
We stayed for a while watching and a ton of people showed up, until there were so many that the police asked everyone to leave. We had decided to leave before that because my youth pastor didn't want any of us to get eaten or injured if the bear got angry and decided to come down the tree. So that is the bear hunting story, and what I did today. 🙂
