*whistle* There have been a couple times when I was on vacation with my family in the mountains and we'd slow down where a bear cub was sighted (indicated by about five cars parked and people taking pictures in the general direction of a ditch), but we never stopped because I was always concerned about mama bear coming out and getting ticked.
Yeah, some people just don't realize that cubs=mama nearby. My dad says that you need to keep as many people between you and the bears as there are bears. 😉
I've seen bears numerous times while camping. Once a cub ran in front of a car directly in front of us then up a tree nearby. We passed pretty close to it and (thankfully) there wasn't a mother-bear around.
I had such a fun night last night! My friends own a horse farm, and they had a huge Independence Day party last night. I was up until almost 11pm doing various dances: Lots of English Country Dancing, the Scottish Polka (to a Newsboys song!), The Virginia Reel, swing dancing, and the Duke of Kent's Waltz, which is a slow dance. Unless, of course, you're doing it to the Pirates of the Caribbean theme music. 😀 I can't wait until the school year starts again so I can start going to English Country Dance! I have friends who go there and stay up until midnight. 😀
Oh, wow, Berry, that's awesome!!!! (I can't wait til English Country Dance, either, although I don't think we've ever been to the same one. :D)
So I killed my ankle last night 😛 whoot, go me!
@hobbit: That's cuz I've never done it before 😛
@Tenny: How? And did you revive it?
Twisted it reaaaally badly last night at fireworks 😛
and um... I didn't 😛 I'm just sitting here playing Nancy Drew computer games.
Aww.
😉 😛
Aw....poor Tenny.
For those who don't know, my best friend, whom I met in Oxford, came to visit me in SA for two and a half weeks. It was her first time anywhere in Africa and we had a blast taking her to the mountains, beaches, a game park and our Soccer World Cup stadium (which has a cable car that takes you up to a beautiful view of the city and sea) among other things. We also watched Series 1 of BBC Sherlock together (her first time, my third) and Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor. It was our Oxford college's Tercentenary (that's 300th anniversary) Ball while she was here so we had our own version of dressing up and going out to dinner. The theme of the Ball was "The Wood Between the Worlds" so we figured South Africa was just one more of the Worlds you could get to from the Ball 😛 We ate ice-cream by my swimming pool as part of the celebration.
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
Sounds like an absolute blast, Ajjie! 😀 So cool the two of you got to spend time together like that!
@Tenny: Aw. 🙁 After doing English country dancing for 3+ hours, you're unsure whether the lower half of your legs are still attached to the rest of you. 😛
@Tenny: Hope you revive that ankle soon. Or at least in reasonable time. 🙂
@Berry: Haha. Take half a packet of jello, pour hot water over it, and drink it like a tea or hot cocoa before bed after doing any activity that works muscles in ways you're not used to. It sounds weird, but it works like a charm. 🙂
@Ariel: O.o Never heard that remedy before. 😮
