Funny, I am not big on romances but I really like a good BBC DRAMA- but I am somewhat picky about them, still! I really like Return to Cranford! Hahahaha!!! Did you watch the Pirate Fairy? I love the song.

I too love BBC period dramas! So Anne, do you like Cranford? Or just Return to Cranford?
Yes, we watched it about a week ago. 🙂

@Ela: I know you're asking Ann, but I like Cranford and Return to Cranford! Have you seen Wives and Daughters?

Ooh! So do I! I thought it was a nice series though I did not care so much for the "main" love story in the first part (I preferred Jessie's and Major Gordon's). I really did like Return to Cranford and the love story was sweet, one that I prefer over other love stories - love tested and tried. 🙂
I'm glad Anne talked to Eria about it so that we could watch it ourselves. ^.^

Wives and Daughters, sounds familiar but I don't seem to recall it.

I like Cranford too, but I think Return to Cranford is better. And I agree, the love story is better in Return to Cranford. 🙂

Yes, definitely! I didn't think much of the other one mainly because there wasn't much to it, no sacrifice unlike RtC.

@Ela: Wives and Daughters is about a doctor's daughter whose father marries a lady she doesn't like. She gets a stepsister that she does like, and she, the doctor's daughter, falls in love with the son of a squire.

Hmm, I don't remember that... I've probably only seen it as we go through titles or my mom might have watched it. 🙂

Ela! I actually only think the first Cranford "okay." That took somewhere around three times seeing it, though. I don't really care for the story and the characters are somewhat uninteresting.
However, I liked Return to Cranford a lot and even like the love story! I agree, there was more sacrifice in William and Peggy's relationship and Peggy was very noble even when William's father asked her to break her engagement to William.

I enjoyed both Cranford and RtC. I am a hopeless romantic, and I agree that the Harrison and Sophie romance in Cranford is rather ordinary and lacks true love. Whereas the Major and Jessie romance is more to my taste. But, RtC has the best romantic appeal between the two.

Who are everyone's favorite characters or character if that suits better 😉

We started watching Cranford twice when I went to visit Silkdash while I was in England. We didn't finish it either time (we ran out of time). One of the libraries in our area has it, but it's a bit out of the way. One day I want to get it and watch the whole thing with my mom, but I've never gotten around to it.

Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.

@Ajnos: lol, well maybe you'll get to finish it someday! 🙂

@Eria: My favorites are William, Peggy, and Jem. And I like Miss Pole, she's hilarious! And Miss Maddy, she's so sweet 🙂
