Well I have always had three in the house so I am kinda sick of them. One of them only doesn't hate me because I feed her, second one doesn't care for me, she just ignores me and sometimes bites me. Third one dislikes me. She bit me when I was younger and she bites me now and yeah she just doesn't like me so I return the feeling back to her! That is my relationship with the cats!
I see. We've had lots of cats over the years, so I've learned how to be patient with them and as a result I love cats in general. My dad calls me the cat-whisperer. Like a horse-whisperer but different. 😛
@Cor: Kitties can be mean sometimes. I've had one for six years and he has been both the sweetest thing (snuggling when someone is feeling down) and the meanest thing (hissing and pawing when he's annoyed). It's funny 'cause I love him for his 'meanness', makes him have more of a personality. 😛 The only one he truly loves is my mom, honestly I've never seen an animal/human relationship quite like theirs. My little mean thing has actually become sweeter over the years - I guess he's becoming more of a softy as he ages.
One of our two cats (Abalone) thinks she's in charge of everything. She used to be really mean, but lately she's mellowed out a bit and doesn't bite much anymore. She used to claw your feet whenever you walked by, but lately only gets feisty much at night. She still fights the other pets, though. And she's really small and is missing an inch or two of her tail.
On the other hand, Toothless is a big old pushover with lots of battle scars. (He wouldn't hurt a fly, though, so I'm not exactly sure how he got the scars...) His favorite things to do are purr and eat. His dad was half-wildcat, and his mom was a tiny, delicate sweetheat who jumped at any little noise. And Toothless himself thinks he's either a dog or a human.
So yeah, we sort of have both ends of the spectrum there in our cats. 😛
@Hobbit: Your first one sounds like my cat! Though he's probably much bigger. 😛
We have had a kitten for three months now - she is cute but so energetic! Both of them playing together is fun to watch, the big meanie and the little sweetheart. Their theme song is "Something There" from Beauty and the Beast since she has brought out some gentler/caring/loving characteristics we've never seen him have with people/animals (other than my mom).
lol
@ Ariel: Aww, that's adorable. Abalone was really mean to Toothless' mom and his sister, so Toothless would protect them from her. He had a flair for the dramatic, too, and would hide around a corner and wait for Abablone to attack Ebony and Ellie, then jump up on something and glare down at Abalone, and she would leave. 😛
Awww! I love my kitties. 🙂 Lance is my brother's cat, but he thinks he's my cat. I think he actually loves me, for a cat. He sleeps in my room all the time, and always looks for me when he's in the house. He follows me around, and if I'm absent from my room for a long enough period of time (provided he's not deeply asleep) he comes looking for me. 😛 He's a cutie. Ella on the other hand, is more independent. She prefers to spend her day hunting, and then comes in at night to sleep at the end of my sister's bed. She doesn't appear to like my sister in anyway, besides sleeping in her bed. It's just her spot. I think she kind of likes me, because I only pet her a little bit and she seems to like that. Petted enough to know she's ours, but not enough to annoy her.
Anyway, to turn the subject away from cats, my sister and I did a photoshoot of me in my Susan dress today at the "castle" near us. Our homeschool group did a tour of the castle (I've seen it a hundred times so we didn't go on the tour). But while we waited, we took tons of pictures. Then after the tour, we had a banquet feast that the "Lord and Lady" presided over (I played the part of the Lady). It was such fun! We had a joust, and fiddle playing, and poetry recited. It was so much fun. And then our whole group of teens who played various roles in the court took tons of pictures out around the castle and grounds. So I can say that today I time-traveled back to the Middle Ages.
*gasp!* I'm mucho jealous!
@Engee: Wow! awesome! sounds like lots of fun 🙂
Engee, that sounds like so much fun! 😀 *Would absolutely love to do something like that.*
Wait...Engee, there's a castle by you???
@Hobbit Hahaha, yes, a castle of sorts. It's more of a tudor-style manor house, but quite large and very medieval looking. It served as the summer home for a wealthy business man from Chicago. He built it during the Great Depression. I'll paste a picture below.
(I didn't take this one. The two trees in the middle aren't there anymore.)
That is beautiful, Engee! I wouldn't mind just visiting but to spend the day as you did must have been wonderful. 🙂
I've been to Hearst Castle before, it's quite exquisite. You can probably find pictures of it online. Sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of zebra (as I have) as the owner of the estate owned many exotic animals - there aren't many now but the zebra have survived on their own within the grounds of the estate.
I've been to the Edinburgh Castle. 😀
