That sounds super awesome, Ela! I hope you don't have any problems settling in.
There's definitely still a lot I have to get used to, but it's pleasant here which makes the transition much better than I was thinking. We are looking at potential homes, and one in particular has caught our interests - here's hoping we can get it!
@Hobbit&Gyps: It did hurt very much so, but I don't do well with pain, so someone else may not have passed out like me. It's still (more so I think) dark underneath, and I read about losing nails, so we'll see what happens.
@Ella: Thanks! So are you moving for college? Lots of changes! Hope all goes well. That museum sounds great!
@Shi: Thanks for the well wishes. 🙂 My entire family has relocated, but I applied to the college up here beforehand and was accepted, so I'll probably stay at home instead of a dorm since money could be saved that way.
@Ella: ah! nice. Hope all goes well! And it's nice that you'll be able to be at home! 🙂
Ela's going to college? Is she going to major in something artsy? If so, PM me. (If not, still PM me, it's my job at my school to help the fresh adjust to college and I need all of the practice I can get)
In other news my laptop is slowly dying and I ordered myself a new one. I'm normally not a big spender and I normally buy refurbished, but I just really wanted something nice and bit the bullet and ordered an Acer Aspire. It was on sale, so I feel a little better about it.
New laptops are nice. 😀
Well, I made myself another dress. It was simple and easy. Just a circle skirt and then used the same pattern from my Anna dress for the bodice and sewed it to the skirt, then added wide straps and one shoulder has a bow on it. The other strap had to be flat so I could wear my 4-H Ambassador sash because I made it for a 4-H dance we had on Friday. Nearly everyone from my church youth group is in 4-H so we all went to the dance together and it was a BLAST! We made up half the people there. And it was so much fun to hang out and dance with my friends.
Do we get to see pics?
Ajjie has been bad at keeping up on the forum lately. I do try to read posts even if I don't reply. Anyway, Ajjie has two bits of exciting news (one much newer than the other). In two weeks time I'm presenting a paper on my PhD research at the national Classics Conference in South Africa. There are lots of us presenting including a bunch of students like me speaking on our research). It's exciting though since it's my first academic conference and it's in a nice little town in a part of the country I've never been to.
The second bit of news I only found out last week though I've been waiting to hear about for a while. I applied for and got a travel award from the Classics Association of SA to go for a couple months to do research for my PhD at an overseas university. It made most sense to go back to where I have contacts in my field and also....well why would I want to go anywhere else. So...I'm going back to Oxford for 2 months at the end of the year to do some research. So excited!!!!
Yeah, and that's my news. The Lord has been amazing in preparing the way for this. 😀
Once a daughter of Eve. Now a daughter of the Second Adam.
That's so exciting, Ajjie!! *hugs!*
So you left Oxford the year before I got there and return a year and a couple months after. You're killing me! 😉
Congratulations, Ajjie! 🙂
Congratulations 😀
Congratulations, Ajjie! 😀
Yay, Ajjie! That's exciting!
@Ariel Sure 🙂 I'll get a pic posted. Edit: It's in the costume thread.
