@dilly: I don't have daylight savings for another month. I didn't realize that other places could have it on different days!
@nia: They were pretty good, if I say so myself. The cake was pretty messy (made lots of crumbs), but yummy; the loaf is definitely something I'll have to make again.

Tirian spent the evening making apple pie jam.
Guys, I've never seen so many apples in a residence before! I'm making another batch of apple pie jam tomorrow, baking an apple cake to take to work on Tuesday, planning on baking and freezing a bunch of apple muffins, and there's bound to be a pie or two in there somewhere!

@ Ariel: wow 😯 how did you end up with enough apples to do all that?

@nia: Mostly from church and my parents. There's a fellow at church who has an orchard, so he's been bringing apples for a month or so now. (And there's another couple who has said something about bringing in their apples too. To which I say, "Bring it on!!")) My parents had a lot of apples this year, especially considering that their tree is not very big; plus they got a bunch from their neighbour, who has two or three trees bigger than their own. (Hence my comment about so many apples in a single residence.) Mom started making apple chips and plans on doing applesauce, but there's so much excess that I've got lots to work with too. 😀 And we'll trade our specialities, so I get some of what she makes and she gets some of mine.
